- Work closely with senior leaders on varied, commercially focused contracts
- Autonomous Role, with WFH Flexibility Arrangements

Our Client

Our client is an established Australian manufacturer and supplier of health-related consumer products, with domestic and international operations.

Operating within a fast-paced, regulated FMCG environment, the organisation manages a diverse range of commercial agreements across sales, marketing, equipment procurement, suppliers, OEM manufacturers and third-party partners.

The company is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel for an initial three-month engagement to provide in-house legal support during a period of leave. Working as the organisation’s sole internal legal resource, the successful candidate will take immediate ownership of contract reviews and provide practical, commercially focused advice to stakeholders across the business.

The Role

This is a hands-on, business-wide legal role responsible for providing practical and commercially focused advice across the organisation.

You will take immediate ownership of the company’s contract review workload, with a primary focus on marketing, sales, equipment procurement, supplier, OEM and co-manufacturer agreements. You will also support internal initiatives, including improvements to contract review and administration processes.

Working closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing and other key stakeholders, you will provide transparent, timely advice and proactively engage with the business to identify risks, resolve contractual issues and support sound commercial decision-making.

The role is initially offered for three months, with the potential for extension depending on ongoing business needs.

Key Responsibilities

- Act as the organisation’s primary in-house legal resource during the fixed-term engagement.
- Take immediate ownership of outstanding and incoming contract-review matters.
- Review, draft and advise on a broad range of commercial agreements,

including marketing, sales, equipment procurement, supplier, OEM and co-manufacturer contracts.
- Provide clear, practical and commercially focused legal advice to stakeholders across the business.
- Identify contractual and commercial risks and recommend pragmatic solutions aligned with the organisation’s objectives.
- Work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing and other internal teams to understand their requirements and progress matters efficiently.
- Support commercial leaders with contract negotiations and engage directly with internal and external stakeholders where required.
- Manage competing priorities independently and ensure time-sensitive matters are addressed promptly.
- Maintain accurate contract records and support effective contract-management practices.
- Contribute to internal projects, including initiatives to improve contract-review, approval and administration processes.
- Develop and standardise legal templates, guidance materials and procedures where appropriate.
- Build solid stakeholder relationships through proactive, accessible and face-to-face engagement.

About You

- At least five years’ experience in commercial or corporate law, ideally gained in-house.
- Demonstrated experience within FMCG, consumer health, pharmaceuticals, complementary medicines or a similarly regulated environment such as food manufacturing will be highly regarded.
- Strong experience reviewing, drafting and advising on a broad range of commercial contracts.
- Exposure to marketing, sales, procurement, supplier, equipment, OEM and co-manufacturer agreements.
- A practical,

commercially focused approach to identifying legal risks and recommending workable solutions.
- The confidence and capability to operate independently as the organisation’s sole internal legal resource.
- Proven ability to take ownership of an active workload, manage competing priorities and progress urgent matters without a formal handover.
- Strong communication, stakeholder-management and influencing skills.
- A proactive and collaborative working style, with a willingness to engage directly and face-to-face with stakeholders across Operations, Supply Chain, Sales and Marketing.
- Experience supporting commercial negotiations and working effectively with senior business leaders.
- An interest in improving contract-review, approval and administration processes.
- Admission as an Australian legal practitioner and eligibility to hold a current practising certificate.
- Openness to a longer-term or permanent opportunity following the initial engagement will be highly regarded.
