Are you an experienced debating coach and emerging leader looking to make a broader impact beyond coaching a single team? Trinity Grammar School is seeking a Lead Debating Coach to help drive the development and delivery of our Debating Program, supporting both students and coaches across a thriving and inclusive co-curricular environment.
As Lead Debating Coach, you will combine team coaching with program leadership responsibilities. Working closely with the Co-ordinator of Debating and Public Speaking, you will play an important role in developing coaching resources, supporting coach development, and overseeing administrative processes and contributing to the smooth operation of competitions and weekly activities.
Trinity prides itself on offering a debating program that promotes participation, development and excellence. Our program includes both competitive teams (primarily FED, ISDA and CAS) and developmental, non-competitive teams.
This role requires availability on Thursday afternoons during school terms, as well as Friday afternoons and evenings during competition season.
We are looking for...
- Debating experience at school and/or university level
- Confidence in creating lesson plans as a Coach or Tutor
- Demonstrated experience coaching debating teams
- Experience adjudicating high school debating competitions
- The ability to mentor and support fellow coaches
Key responsibilities include...
- Coaching debating teams and supporting student development
- Creating coaching resources and training materials
- Managing weekly competition results, roll marking and semester report submission follow up
- Supporting competition logistics, including set up and pack down as required on Friday afternoon/evenings

Successful candidates will have...
- A cover letter and current resume, including 2 professional references. If you graduated within the past two years, provide a pastoral reference from your school
- Compliance requirements needed before commencement: NSW Working with Children number (Employment Status), First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011), CPR Certificate (HLTAID009) and PBTR - Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport Induction certificate.
