The Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees' Association (SDA) is one of Australia's largest Unions with over 210,000 members nationally. We look after the interests of retail, rapid food and warehouse workers.

The SDA in Western Australia is currently seeking to appoint a motivated and dedicated full-time Organiser to join our team in Western Australia, covering the South West Region, to build membership and provide representation for members.

We need an organised, resourceful, and enthusiastic people who believe in furthering the interests of workers. Organisers need to be motivated and capable of performing their role without constant supervision.

About the role

Based in the South West, the position will cover a geographical area within South West Regional locations.

Individually you will:

- recruit new members to the union in the retail and fast food industries;

- help identify new delegates, and liaise with and support existing delegates;

- provide representation for members in disciplinary meetings;

- raise and help solve workplace disputes; and

- negotiate favourable outcomes for members.

Key Selection Criteria





To be considered for this role you must have the following:

- excellent communication skills;

- commitment to Union values and principles;

- excellent time management and organisational skills;

- availability to work a roster with alternating Saturdays and some night work;

- sound written and verbal communication skills; and

- a current driver's licence.

- eligibility to work in Australia as either a permanent resident or Australian citizen.

- minimum of 1-2 years' experience in retail, union organising or industrial relations.

Salary and benefits include:

- a starting salary of $95,133.55 (including super);

- a Sunday Allowance paid fortnightly for working one Sunday in six which equates to an additional 3.1% per annum;

- a fully maintained vehicle.
