About the opportunity
Strategic Business Co is recruiting on behalf of our client, the BSCBI Group, which operates three venues across the Bundaberg region: the flagship Brothers Sports Club in Bundaberg, Woodgate Bowls Club and Burnett Bowls Club in West Bundaberg, known to locals as The Bowlo.
Following the recent acquisition of Woodgate Bowls Club and The Bowlo, BSCBI Group has entered an exciting period of growth. For the incoming Group Team & Culture Manager, it's a great opportunity to help shape the people, culture and workforce direction of an expanding Group.
We're looking for an experienced People & Culture leader who can hold the big picture while still getting into the detail when it matters.
Working across three venues, you'll move between longer-term workforce initiatives and the day-to-day people matters that come with a busy, customer-focused operation. One moment you may be working with senior leadership on workforce strategy, the next supporting a manager through an issue on the floor.
This isn't a role where you'll wait for HR matters to land on your desk. You'll have the autonomy to identify what needs attention, work out the best approach and make it happen.
The role
As Group Team & Culture Manager, you'll work closely with the leadership team while being a visible and approachable presence across the Group.
You'll lead the people and culture function across all three venues, ensuring leaders have the support, systems and advice they need to lead their teams effectively, while helping shape the Group's broader people strategy as the organisation continues to grow.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing strategic people and culture advice to senior leaders and managers
- Leading workforce planning, employee engagement and culture initiatives across the Group
- Managing complex employee relations, performance and workplace matters
- Coaching and supporting managers to confidently lead and manage their teams
- Leading the ongoing development and improvement of HR systems, processes, policies and practices
- Identifying emerging people issues, risks and opportunities and proactively addressing them
- Driving practical improvements across the employee lifecycle, from attraction and onboarding through to development and retention
- Supporting recruitment, talent development and succession planning across the Group
- Using workforce data, technology and systems to improve decision-making, efficiency and the employee experience
- Ensuring contemporary employment practices and strong workplace compliance across all three venues
Who we're looking for
We want someone who knows their stuff, but just as importantly, someone who is approachable, practical and comfortable working with people at every level of the organisation, from casual team members through to senior leadership.
You'll ideally bring:
- Strong generalist HR / People & Culture experience at a senior level
- The confidence and capability to operate autonomously and take ownership of the function
- A strategic mindset,
balanced with a willingness to get involved when operational matters need attention
- Strong employee relations and workplace relations capability
- The ability to navigate complex or sensitive people matters with sound judgement and a practical approach
- Strong relationship-building, influencing and communication skills
- Confidence using HR systems, technology and workforce data
- The ability to work effectively in an environment where priorities can change quickly
- A down-to-earth, approachable style that builds trust with employees and leaders
Experience within hospitality, clubs, hotels, gaming, retail or another high-volume customer-facing environment would be highly regarded.
Most importantly, you won't need someone constantly telling you what to do next. You'll see what needs doing, take ownership and make it happen.
What's on offer
- $125,000 – $145,000 + super, depending on experience
- Meal allowance
- Fuel card
- A senior role with genuine autonomy and the chance to shape the People & Culture function across a growing Group
- The opportunity to work closely with senior leadership across three established venues
- Relocation assistance may be considered for the right candidate
