About the Role
This is a hands-on, all-round finance role suited to an experienced bookkeeper who can confidently manage the accounts through to trial balance.
You will have a strong understanding of the general ledger, reconciliations and the flow of transactions through an accounting system, with the ability to investigate discrepancies, identify issues and resolve them independently.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the business, including accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, payroll administration, cash flow, reporting and month-end processes.
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated and organised all-rounder with excellent attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills and a practical, can-do approach.
You will need to be comfortable working independently while also communicating effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day financial and bookkeeping functions of the business through to trial balance.
- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including invoice processing, payments,
allocations and follow-up of outstanding accounts.
- Process and reconcile bank accounts and company credit cards, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and supported.
- Maintain the general ledger and investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies.
- Manage payroll administration, including payroll-related reconciliations and statutory requirements.
- Prepare information and reporting for BAS, PAYG, Payroll Tax, FBT and other statutory obligations, in conjunction with external accountants and advisers where required.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and financial year-end processes.
- Monitor the company's financial position and cash flow, including transactions involving foreign currency.
- Prepare and report on inventory accounting and reconciliations, including stock costing, inventory levels, and stock ordering and purchasing requirements.
- Prepare financial information and reports for management and the CFO.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and management information systems.
- Assist with the implementation, maintenance and ongoing improvement of ERP systems to streamline workflows, improve efficiency and enhance financial and operational processes.
- Work closely with external accountants and CFO as required.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs and streamline financial and administrative functions.
- Assist with the ongoing development and improvement of accounting systems and procedures.
- Undertake other finance and administration responsibilities as required.
