Smithfield Collision Repair Centre is seeking a Qualified Panel Beater to join our growing team in Smithfield SA 5114. This is a full-time position offering an excellent opportunity to utilise your skills in a professional automotive repair environment. As a Panel Beater, you will play a crucial role in restoring vehicles to their pre-accident condition, working with modern repair techniques and equipment. This position is essential to maintaining our reputation for high-quality collision repairs and customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities
- Assess vehicle damage and determine the most appropriate repair methods and techniques
- Remove and reshape damaged body panels using hand tools, power tools and specialised panel beating equipment
- Perform welding operations where necessary to repair structural damage and panel joints
- Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting by filling, sanding and priming damaged areas
- Work from repair estimates and technical specifications to ensure accurate restoration
- Maintain accurate records of work completed
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and best practices in the workplace
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, other technicians and customers regarding repair progress
- Use diagnostic equipment to identify hidden damage and structural issues
- Maintain work areas in a clean and organised manner
What we're looking for
- Current recognised Panel Beater qualification or equivalent trade certification
- Proven experience as a Panel Beater in the automotive collision repair industry
- Competency in using hand tools, power tools and specialised panel beating equipment
- Knowledge of vehicle structural repair and modern repair techniques
- Experience with welding and metal fabrication
- Understanding of health and safety regulations specific to automotive repair work
- Solid attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver's licence (preferred)
