About Axis

Axis Services Group is a specialist building services contractor delivering mechanical pipework, hydraulics, fire services and medical gases. We work across Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth, Darwin, Adelaide, Auckland, New York and Asia. Our Medical Gases Division designs, installs, tests and commissions medical gas pipeline systems for major public and private hospitals, and we are expanding to meet a strong pipeline of new health projects.

About the role

This is a hands-on graduate role in a technically demanding, safety critical field. You will work alongside experienced engineers, project managers and licensed tradespeople on real hospital projects from tender through to handover. You will build a strong grounding in AS 2896 and gain exposure to design, estimating, project delivery and commissioning.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare and update 2D and 3D shop drawings and BIM models for medical gas reticulation, plant rooms and manifold installations

- Carry out pipe sizing, flow and pressure drop calculations in accordance with AS 2896 and project specifications

- Coordinate services with mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and structural trades, including clash detection

- Review consultant drawings and specifications, and prepare RFIs to resolve design gaps

- Prepare material take-offs and quantity schedules from tender documents

- Assist with scope reviews, clarifications and technical submissions

- Source supplier pricing for plant, outlets, zone valve boxes, alarms and pipe materials





- Prepare technical submittals, equipment schedules and material approvals

- Develop and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality records

- Track progress, variations and procurement against programme and budget

About you

- Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) or a closely related discipline, completed or completing by the start date

- Working proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit

- Strong analytical, numerical and problem solving skills

- Clear written and verbal communication, with attention to detail in technical documentation

- Ability to work collaboratively in project teams and on construction sites

- Australian citizenship or permanent residence

- Current driver's licence

- Exposure to building services, hydraulics or HVAC through internships, vacation work or thesis projects (desirable)

- Familiarity with Navisworks, Bluebeam or similar coordination tools (desirable)

- General Construction Induction (White Card), or willingness to obtain one before starting (desirable)
