What you'll be doing?

- Preparing estimates and tenders: Develop detailed and competitive estimates, quotations and tenders for civil construction projects, drawing on strong knowledge of materials, labour, plant and subcontractor costs.
- Reviewing project documentation: Review plans, specifications and scope of works to ensure every project requirement is accurately captured from the outset.
- Costing projects accurately: Prepare precise material, labour, plant and subcontractor costings that set projects up for success.
- Sourcing and assessing quotes: Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to build well-informed, competitive tenders.
- Following up leads and enquiries: Follow up potential leads and new enquiries, helping convert opportunities into successful projects for the business.
- Nurturing client relationships:



Maintain regular communication with prospective clients on submitted quotations, building trust and rapport throughout the process.
- Engaging directly with clients: Liaise directly with clients to understand their requirements and project scope, acting as a key point of contact.
- Conducting site visits: Visit sites as required to assess project requirements firsthand and inform accurate estimating.
- Identifying risks and variations: Spot project risks, exclusions and potential variations early, helping protect project outcomes and profitability.
- Supporting project handovers: Work closely with the construction team to ensure smooth and accurate handovers from estimating through to delivery.

Who are they looking for?

- Estimating experience: A minimum of three years' experience as a Civil Estimator, Senior Estimator or in a similar role is sought, with a solid track record in civil construction estimating.
- Construction methodology know-how: A solid understanding of civil construction methodology and project costing is important, particularly within landscaping, retaining walls or large open-space projects such as government, public or school sites.
- Plan interpretation skills: The ability to read and interpret plans and specifications accurately is a key part of getting estimates right.
- Cost knowledge: Strong knowledge across materials, labour, plant or subcontractor costs is valued, with flexibility around the specific area of expertise.




- Attention to detail: A sharp eye for detail and accuracy will help ensure estimates are reliable and competitive.
- Communication and negotiation: Confident communication and negotiation skills will support strong relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors alike.
- Computer and estimating tools: Comfortable using computer systems and estimating software to prepare and manage tenders efficiently.
- Organisation and time management: Strong organisational and time-management skills will help juggle multiple tenders, enquiries and deadlines with ease.
- Commercial mindset: A practical, commercially minded and proactive approach is welcomed, with a genuine interest in contributing to business growth.
