Job description:
ABOUT THE ROLE
Prepare surfaces for tiling by cleaning, levelling, and applying waterproofing membranes and adhesives as required.
Measure, mark, cut, and lay ceramic, porcelain, marble, mosaic, terracotta, and other tile types on walls, floors, and other surfaces.
Apply, mix, and spread grout and sealants to finish tiled surfaces to a qualified standard.
Read and interpret architectural drawings and project specifications to plan and execute tiling layouts.
Select appropriate adhesives, grouts, and materials based on surface type, tile selection, and project conditions.
Work on residential, commercial, and civil construction projects including bathrooms, kitchens, swimming pools, and facades.
Inspect completed tiling work for quality, alignment, and compliance with project specifications and client requirements.
Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, the National Construction Code, and relevant workplace health and safety requirements at all times.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 3 years of experience as a qualified Wall and Floor Tiler on residential and/or commercial projects.
Demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of tile types, formats, and surface conditions.
Competency in waterproofing application in accordance with AS 3740 and relevant standards.
Robust understanding of Australian building codes, tiling standards, and secure work practices.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
High level of attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality finished results.
Valid driver's licence (preferred).
Ability to physically perform the demands of the role including kneeling, bending, and working on wet surfaces.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling (CPC31320) or equivalent recognised qualification – required.
Completion of a recognised Australian apprenticeship in Wall and Floor Tiling, or an overseas equivalent assessed by the relevant authority.
Current White Card (Construction Induction Training – CPCCWHS1001) is required.
State/territory licence or registration as required by local regulations.
Relevant skills assessment from a recognised Australian assessing authority may be required for visa application purposes.
Experience with large format tiles, rectified tiles, and complex pattern layouts is highly regarded.
