Role Description The Occupational Therapist & Speech Pathologist (paediatrics) role at Yarran Early Intervention Services focuses on providing evidence-based, family-centred support that builds on each child’s strengths, interests and potential. This hybrid role is based on the Central Coast of NSW, with a combination of sessions in clinic, homes, early childhood settings and the community, alongside some work-from-home flexibility for planning, documentation and telehealth. Day-to-day tasks include understanding children’s developmental, communication, sensory and functional needs; working with families to identify meaningful goals; and providing practical, play-based support within everyday routines and environments.
The role involves working closely with caregivers, educators and other professionals, maintaining accurate clinical records and contributing to a collaborative multidisciplinary team. Additional responsibilities include supporting families to build confidence and capacity, sharing knowledge and strategies, contributing to service planning, and helping strengthen Yarran’s early intervention programs.
Qualifications
Demonstrated competence in Occupational Therapy and/or Speech Pathology,
including assessment and intervention for children’s functional, sensory, developmental and communication needs.
Knowledge of principles relevant to paediatric early intervention and neurodevelopmental conditions.
Robust communication skills, including the ability to explain clinical information clearly and respectfully to children, families, caregivers and other professionals.
Experience working with paediatrics, particularly within developmental, behavioural, communication or early childhood settings.
Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and/or Speech Pathology, with eligibility for registration or membership with the relevant skilled body (e.g., AHPRA, Speech Pathology Australia).
Experience in paediatric early intervention, community health or disability services is highly regarded.
Ability to work collaboratively, manage a caseload and maintain accurate documentation and reports.
