Lox in a Box is a Sydney bagel and deli group with venues in Bondi, Coogee, Marrickville and Paddington, backed by our own production kitchen and bakery. We're heading into our busiest time of year and we're growing our kitchen leadership across the group.

About the role

Our kitchens are rapid, high volume, breakfast and lunch focused, and built around bagels, house cured lox, deli classics and a menu that changes with the seasons and the Jewish calendar. Kitchen Managers and Assistant Kitchen Managers lead and support kitchen operations across our Sydney venues in Bondi, Coogee, Marrickville and Paddington.

Key responsibilities
Lead service so food goes out on time, looking the way it's meant to, every time
Own the kitchen's systems: opening and closing procedures, prep lists, checklists, ordering and stock control
Keep food safety and cross contamination standards tight without being asked
Manage COGS and kitchen wages against weekly targets, and understand why the numbers move
Train and develop your team, from kitchen hands through to your next supervisor
Communicate clearly with your front of house manager, your team and head office, especially when things get busy
Roster and hire for your own kitchen




For Assistant Kitchen Managers: support all of the above and step in to run the kitchen on the manager's days off

About you
Solid experience in a busy café, deli or restaurant kitchen, with at least some time leading a section or a team
Calm and organised under pressure. You set the pace rather than react to it
Communicative. You talk to your team, you talk to the front, you don't leave people guessing
Positive with people. You can give feedback, train someone new and hold a standard without the drama
Comfortable with the numbers side of a kitchen, or keen to learn it properly
Care about the details: a clean bench, the right container, the right plate, product where it's supposed to be
Available across weekends and public holidays, which are our biggest days
