The Kimberley Land Council (KLC) is seeking an experienced and collaborative Business Manager to join our Land and Sea Management Unit (LSMU) and lead the delivery and growth of our carbon and fire programs.
Leading a team of around 14 across a number of different teams, this key role works closely with native title holders to continue to be recognised and rewarded for caring for Country by helping to shape recent carbon methods, undertaking best-practice fire management programs, advocating for Aboriginal culture and knowledge to be embedded in markets and ensuring Traditional Owners have access to access emerging carbon and nature repair opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead operational delivery of Fire, Carbon and sponsored projects
Ensure activities support KLC objectives and native title outcomes for Kimberley Aboriginal people
Develop policies, operational plans and budgets that support strong, sustainable programs
Manage contracts,
compliance, reporting, funding relationships and program deliverables
Provide high-level operational, governance and strategic advice across LSMU
Represent KLC and build effective relationships with Traditional Owners, funders and stakeholders
Experience & Qualifications
Experience in conservation, land management, cultural heritage management and/or education and training programs
A valuable working knowledge of Aboriginal culture and protocols, with the ability to work respectfully with Traditional Owners
Proven project management skills in complex and culturally responsive environments
Solid communication and relationship-building skills
Knowledge of savanna fire burning, carbon projects and emerging nature and biodiversity markets is highly regarded
A relevant management, land management or education and training qualification is desirable
