House Leader Commencing: **** School Year Employment: Catholic Education Multi Enterprise Agreement **** (CEMEA ****) Position of Leadership: House Leader – POL 3 Teaching Salary: T1-1 $79,589 – T2-6 $118,063 Time Allowance - 11 lessons per cycle
Marian College is a Kildare Education Ministries School in the Brigidine tradition. We offer co-educational schooling for students in Years 7 to 12 and promote high expectations, respectful relationships, perseverance and inclusivity.
About the Role
The House Leader will play a significant role in promoting and developing a Catholic school community grounded in the Brigidine tradition and guided by the Kildare Ministries values of compassion, justice, hospitality, courage, hope and wonder.
The House Leader is responsible for leading and supporting student wellbeing across their House, including the provision of general and targeted pastoral care and overseeing House events. The role involves working collaboratively with students, parents, Homeroom (TA) teachers, subject teachers and other members of the College community to promote positive student outcomes and ensure a strong sense of belonging.
Key responsibilities:
Leading student wellbeing and pastoral care within the House
Supporting the social, emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing of students
Building positive, respectful and trusting relationships with students, families and colleagues
Liaising effectively with parents and carers regarding student wellbeing, progress and behaviour
Maintaining appropriate student discipline and ensuring College expectations are upheld
Supporting Homeroom (TA) teachers and subject teachers in promoting the holistic development of students




Implementing appropriate wellbeing initiatives and interventions that support students to develop a strong sense of identity, personal worth and belonging
Ensuring that each student is cared for in accordance with the vision and mission of the College
Contributing positively to the wider College community and its Catholic identity

Essential Qualifications and Skills:
Recognised teaching qualification and current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration
Be a person suitable to engage in child related work and be willing to undertake all required employment and background checks
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Capacity to differentiate learning and respond effectively to students with diverse abilities, needs and backgrounds
Competence in the use of educational technologies
Understanding and commitment to Catholic Identity and Mission, and the values that underpin the College community
A demonstrated capacity to effectively embed wellbeing principles into classroom practice through the School Wide Positive Behaviour System

participate in ongoing professional learning in child safety and wellbeing
promote a culturally safe and inclusive learning setting, catering for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, LGBTQIA+ students and those with diverse learning needs
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following essential attributes:
models appropriate behaviours when engaging with children
Understands the social, emotional, and physical wellbeing needs of young children
Maintains confidentiality to safeguard children in accordance with school requirements
Demonstrates empathy and compassion in responding to concerns about child safety
Promotes student voice, empowering children and young people to express their views and concerns.

Marian College Ararat is a Catholic, Kildare Education Ministries school in the Brigidine tradition. Offers secondary, co-educational schooling for years 7 to12.
