Position: Middle School Technology/Visual Arts Teacher (Years 6-8)
Status: Permanent Full Time

Burgmann Anglican School is an Early Childhood to Year 12 School with campuses located at Gungahlin and Forde.
The school prides itself on its innovative and creative approach to curriculum and education and its strong sense of community and pastoral care of the students and their families and the staff of the school. The school has a strong link with the Gungahlin Anglican Church which shares facilities and resources with the school.
Line Management
Responsible to the Head of Middle School and ultimately the Principal through: Deputy Head of Middle School (Learning and Teaching) and Deputy Head of Middle School (Culture & Wellbeing)
The appointee will be required to work collaboratively with a Middle School Year Level Teams.
Duties
Lead and teach the Digital Technologies and Design programs to Middle School students, with a focus on computational thinking, algorithms, programming, data systems, cybersecurity and digital solutions
Oversee the Design Assistant and provide direction around the preparation of resources and maintenance and compliance of the Technology and Visual Arts spaces
Teach with a focus on developing higher order thinking skills, design thinking and self-regulation skills
Demonstrate a passion for effective teaching and learning
Collaborate effectively with teaching colleagues, including identifying meaningful opportunities for interdisciplinary learning
Contribute effectively to curriculum development, including interdisciplinary
Liaise with students and parents
Participate in the school's co-curricular program which may include weekend activities
Attend staff meetings and professional development
Support the Christian ethos of an Anglican School
Other duties as required
Selection Criteria
A Teaching qualification with a passion for the Australian Curriculum Technology and Arts courses
Experience in teaching the Australian Curriculum and the ability to contribute effectively to curriculum development
A passion for effective learning and teaching including design thinking, self-regulation and project based learning
An interest in working with young adolescents, with an understanding of their unique needs
The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
The ability to plan and deliver a differentiated learning program, that is inclusive of diverse student needs, including documenting adjustments
A commitment to the ideals and ethos of Middle Schooling
Demonstrated skill and experience in outcomes-based planning and assessment
Demonstrated skill and experience in developing learning experiences that promote higher-order thinking
Skills in the effective integration of ICT, that enables safe, responsible and ethical use of technologies
Willingness to participate in the school's co-curricular program
Salary, Terms and Conditions
The successful applicant will be employed under the Independent Schools (Teachers) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement ****. Salary will be determined according to qualifications and years of experience.
