Our client, a major organisation within the utilities sector, is seeking an experienced Data Architect for an initial 12-month contract to play a key role within a significant Billing Replacement Program.
n
The program is currently in Discovery and will replace existing billing platforms across a complex technology environment. This role will be responsible for establishing the current-state data baseline, defining target and interim data architectures, and guiding the migration and data assurance activities required throughout the transformation.
n
This isn't purely a data modelling or governance role. We're looking for someone who can operate across architecture, data migration and delivery - Someone comfortable understanding complex legacy data environments, identifying quality and lineage issues, and establishing the architecture required to successfully transition data into new platforms.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
n
n
Assess the current data landscape, including models, flows, mappings, reports, data quality, ownership, lineage and systems of record.
n
Define business data domains, key data objects, relationships, conceptual and logical models, ownership and mastership arrangements.
n
Design target and interim data architectures aligned with enterprise, security, privacy, records management and operational requirements.
n
Define the migration architecture across extraction, profiling, cleansing, transformation, reconciliation, archival,
cutover and rollback.
n
Align data contracts, APIs, event payloads, reporting, analytics and downstream data requirements with solution and integration architects.
n
Work closely with business SMEs, architects, system leads, security teams and technology vendors to resolve data issues and support architecture decisions.

Skills and experience - To be successful in this role, you will bring:
n
n
Solid capability across conceptual and logical data modelling, data domains, master data, metadata, lineage, data quality and governance.
n
Strong data migration architecture experience, with an understanding of profiling, cleansing, transformation, reconciliation, cutover and legacy data considerations.
n
Ability to translate complex business processes into practical data requirements, models, controls and implementation guidance.
n
n
Nice to haves:
n
n
Utilities or energy industry experience, particularly across billing, customer, account, metering, service order or Australian energy market data.
n
Experience with SAP IS-U or similar utility/customer platforms, including phased migration or dual-run environments.
n
n
This is an initial 12-month contract, based in Melbourne CBD, offering the opportunity to play a key architecture role within a major enterprise billing transformation.
n
You'll have the opportunity to shape the data architecture from Discovery, establishing the models, migration approach, governance and data foundations that will support the program through design and implementation.
