Job Description
Contract: 9 months + 2 x 12-month extension options

Bridge IT is seeking an experienced AI Governance / Assurance Specialist to support a Federal Government environment in Canberra. This role is focused on assessing AI, machine learning and advanced technology solutions through a governance, assurance, risk and technical evidence lens.
n
The successful candidate will work across technical, operational, policy and governance functions to assess AI/ML capability claims, review evidence, support assurance activities and provide balanced, risk-informed advice to senior decision-makers.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Assess AI, machine learning, data-driven and advanced technology solutions against governance, assurance, risk and operational requirements.
n
Review technical documentation, performance claims, assumptions, evidence and risks.
n
Support assurance, verification, validation, test and evaluation, systems engineering, experimentation or operational analysis activities.
n
Develop, review and apply governance frameworks, assurance frameworks, standards, policies and risk management approaches.
n
Translate business, operational and capability requirements into practical technology-enabled outcomes.
n
Prepare reports, briefs, submissions, technical assessments and decision-support advice for senior stakeholders.
n
Engage with technical, operational, governance and policy stakeholders across complex environments.
n
Support the application of responsible AI, ethical AI, privacy, security, model assurance and technology risk principles.
n

To be successful, you will have:
n
n
A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics or another STEM discipline, or equivalent skilled experience.
n
Minimum 5 years' experience developing, implementing, managing, assuring, testing, evaluating or governing AI, machine learning, data-driven or advanced technology solutions.
n
Experience applying engineering, systems engineering, risk, assurance, operational analysis, experimentation, test and evaluation or similar methodologies to complex real-world problems.
n
Strong ability to assess technical evidence, documentation, performance claims, assumptions and risks.
n
Experience preparing reports, briefs, submissions or technical advice for senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
n
Demonstrated experience working across technical, governance, operational or policy functions.
n
Australian citizenship and a current NV1 security clearance minimum.

Highly Desirable
n
Experience across some of the following would be highly regarded:
n
n
Defence, Defence Industry, DSTG, National Security or Commonwealth Government environments.
n
Generative AI, Large Language Models, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, prompt engineering, autonomy, computer vision or advanced analytics.
n
AI governance, responsible AI, ethical AI, model assurance, technology risk or assurance frameworks.
n
Verification, validation, assurance, certification, accreditation, IV&V;, test and evaluation or capability assurance.
n
Cloud-based AI and machine learning platforms such as Microsoft Azure AI, AWS AI/ML or Google Cloud AI.
n
Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn or similar AI/ML frameworks.
n
Model Cards, System Cards, Use Case documentation, Assurance Cases or equivalent governance artefacts.
n
MLOps, DevOps, model lifecycle management or operational deployment of AI/ML solutions.
n
Power BI, Tableau or other data visualisation tools.
n
Technical leadership, project management, workshops, stakeholder engagement or change management for AI, digital or emerging technology initiatives.
