Job Description
A great opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Design Manager / Design Coordinator to join a well-established and highly regarded main contractor based from its Wakefield office.

This is an ideal prospect for someone looking to develop their career in Design Management, working alongside experienced construction and design professionals on projects from pre-construction through to delivery.

The Role
n
You'll play a key part in coordinating the design process, ensuring information is delivered accurately, on time and in a format that works for the construction team.
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
Coordinating design information across live and pre-construction projects
n
Managing architects, consultants and specialist subcontractor design
n
Identifying design gaps, risks and buildability issues
n
Chairing and attending Design Team Meetings
n
Managing design programmes and information release schedules
n
Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical information
n
Supporting value engineering and practical buildability solutions
n
Coordinating consultant appointments, scopes and responsibility matrices
n
Working closely with Project Managers, Site Teams, Commercial teams and clients
n
Ensuring the design supports safe, efficient and profitable project delivery
n
n
Who Are We Looking For?
n
This role would be particularly suitable for someone already working as a Design Coordinator or Assistant Design Manager who is looking to take the next step in their career.
n
Alternatively, it could be an excellent opportunity for an Architectural Assistant – Part 2, or someone from an architectural background, who is considering a change in career path and would like to move into contractor-side Design Management.
n
You should have:
n
n
Experience within construction or architectural design
n
A good understanding of the design and construction process
n
Strong coordination and communication skills
n
The confidence to work with consultants, subcontractors and project teams
n
A practical, solutions-focused approach to design
n
n
You don't need to be the finished article. What's more important is a strong technical grounding, good communication skills and the ambition to develop into a fully-fledged Design Manager.
n
