n
The Library & Young People's Services Officer is responsible for the planning, promotion and delivery of engaging, inclusive and age-appropriate programs, activities and events for children and young people through the Carnarvon Library. Programs will be delivered primarily after school, on weekends and during school holiday periods, with a focus on supporting positive learning, literacy, creativity, participation and social connection outcomes.

The position will build effective relationships with young people, families, schools, community organisations and other stakeholders to support participation and ensure programs respond to local needs.
n
As part of the broader Library and Art Gallery Team, the position will also support the delivery of day-to-day library services, including customer service, library operations and activities, and contribute to maintaining a welcoming, accessible and inclusive service for the community.

What You'll Do
n
As our Library & Young People's Services Officer, you will:
n
Demonstrate successful leadership through the application of the Shire's core values by promoting a work culture of sustainability, quality improvement, efficiency, and excellent customer service that corresponds to our Code of Conduct and Customer Service Charter.
n
Ensure compliance with the Local Government Act (WA) **** and any relevant legislation.
n

Support operational processes that deliver the corporate customer service standards of high performance, including timelines, accuracy, and consistency, through a commitment to continuous improvement.
n
A commitment to fostering a positive team spirit within the Library and the Shire.
n
Undertake a wide range of library operational duties as required, including customer service delivery, computer and technology support and collection
processing/maintenance.
n
Plan, promote, deliver and evaluate regular library programs/events with an emphasis on children and youth participants, such as the Better Beginnings program and STEM activities, School Holiday Program, Children's Book Week, Scribblers Festival and Sketchbook Program.
n
Liaise and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders such as educational organisations, child health professionals and other community
groups/organisations
to develop collaborative and outreach opportunities for service delivery and promote information sharing.
n
Undertake administrative tasks related to the role, including maintaining statistics, procurement of goods and services, preparing documentation for grant
applications/acquittals
and preparing promotional material.
n
Undertake other duties as directed.

About You
n
You'll bring:
n
Relevant tertiary qualification in Library and Information Studies or Education or Community Services and/or minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role
n
Highly developed ability to uphold a values-based approach in the workplace.
n
Highly effective communication skills (written and verbal) including ability to provide quality customer service.
n
Excellent customer service skills and demonstrated experience in a busy customer service environment.
n
Well-developed organisational and time management skills.
n
Comprehensive computer and administrative skills with the capacity to adapt to new technologies and software.
n
Demonstrated ability in the planning, promotion and delivery of high quality, creative and innovative children and youth services programs and events.
n
Flexibility to work rostered hours according to operational requirements, including some weekend work.
n
Organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise competing tasks.

Salary: $72,******p/a plus superannuation, district allowance: $2,******p/a, housing allowance $3,******p/a (if eligible).
