About The Role

Due to continued growth, McDermott Aviation is looking for an organised and detail-focused Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team in Cooroy.
n
This is a hands-on role supporting the wider Finance team with day-to-day transactions, supplier payments, reconciliations and month-end processes. You will work across multiple currencies and liaise with internal teams and external suppliers to help ensure our financial processes remain accurate, efficient and well organised.
n
The position would suit someone with previous accounting or bookkeeping experience who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team and is looking to continue developing their accounting career.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Process and verify supplier invoices, including matching invoices to purchase orders
n
Prepare weekly supplier payment runs and remittances
n
Process transactions across multiple currencies
n
Complete credit card and supplier statement reconciliations
n
Accurately record financial transactions and journal entries in the general ledger
n
Assist with month-end and year-end processes, including prepayments and accruals
n
Maintain accurate, confidential and organised financial records
n




Liaise with internal departments, clients and suppliers to resolve billing and payment queries
n
Provide general administrative and financial support to the Finance team as required
n

About You
n
To be successful in this position, you will ideally have:
n
n
At least two years' experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role
n
A relevant professional qualification, or be currently studying towards one, such as CA, CPA or ACCA
n
Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and basic formulas
n
Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, although this is not essential
n
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
n
The ability to prioritise competing tasks and meet deadlines
n
A qualified and discreet approach when handling confidential information
n
Clear written and verbal communication skills
n
A practical, team-focused attitude
