GLH Recruitment
Traralgon
What if your next leadership role was about more than managing care?
What if it was about bringing people together, creating a great place to work, and making a genuine difference every day?
GLH is assisting a
medium-sized aged care organisation in Gippsland
with the appointment of an experienced and compassionate
General Manager – Care
.
And we're looking for someone a little different.
Someone who is
authentic, humble and grounded
.
Someone who is comfortable leading from the front — and just as comfortable rolling up their sleeves and getting alongside their team.
Someone who believes that the best leadership isn't about having all the answers.
It's about
listening, supporting, challenging when needed, celebrating people and bringing everyone along on the journey.
A word about the CEO
This role reports to a
hands-on, values-led and deeply people-focused CEO
.
The CEO genuinely believes that great organisations are built by great people — and that creating the right workplace matters just as much as getting the right outcomes.
They want someone alongside them who will help build that environment.
Someone who will walk the floor.
Know the residents.
Know the team.
Have the conversations that need to be had.
Ask,"How can we do this better?"
And when things get tough,
stay present.
There is no ego here.
Just a genuine commitment to doing good work, looking after people and continually improving.
The opportunity
As
General Manager – Care
, you will provide strategic and operational clinical leadership across residential aged care, while providing clinical oversight and supporting integrated care across home care and retirement living.
You will play a key role in shaping clinical strategy, strengthening capability and building a culture where

You will lead:
Clinical excellence and secure, high-quality care
Nursing and care teams, with a focus on capability and development

Relationships with residents, clients, families, medical and allied health professionals
Integrated care across residential aged care, home care and retirement living
Compliance with the
Aged Care Act ****
, Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards and relevant clinical obligations
But the role is about more than a list of responsibilities.
It's about people.

You'll be an experienced Registered Nurse and aged care clinical leader who brings strong clinical judgement, governance expertise and a genuine passion for older people.
You may currently be a:
Director of Nursing
Clinical Manager
Care Manager
General Manager
Senior Clinical Leader
Or perhaps you're ready to take that next step into broader organisational leadership.
You will bring senior aged care leadership experience and a strong understanding of clinical governance, compliance, quality and risk.
But just as importantly, you'll bring
emotional intelligence.
You'll be someone who can inspire confidence without needing to be the loudest person in the room.
Someone who can hold people accountable while still treating them with respect.
Someone who understands that culture isn't created through policies and procedures.
Culture is created by how we show up every day.
You'll be someone who:
Leads by example
Builds genuine relationships
Listens before jumping to solutions
Brings people together
Is comfortable being visible and hands-on
Develops people rather than simply managing them
Can have courageous conversations with kindness
Takes accountability and encourages others to do the same
Is curious and always looking for ways to improve
Understands the importance of dignity, choice and person-centred care
Doesn't take themselves too seriously — but takes the work seriously
Essential requirements
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
Demonstrated senior clinical leadership experience within aged care
National Police Check
Aged Care Worker Screening Clearance, or ability to obtain
Relevant immunisation evidence in accordance with organisational requirements
Highly regarded
Postgraduate qualifications in aged care, clinical leadership, management or a related discipline
Experience leading accreditation, registration and quality improvement programs
Experience across residential aged care, home care and/or retirement living
What you can expect
This is an opportunity to join a
medium-sized organisation where your contribution can genuinely be felt.
You'll have:
A meaningful senior leadership role with organisation-wide influence
A supportive, hands-on CEO and executive team
The opportunity to shape clinical strategy and culture
Professional development and leadership growth
Competitive remuneration, including salary packaging
The opportunity to make a lasting difference to older people, their families and the teams who care for them
And perhaps most importantly...
You'll be joining an organisation that wants to
do good work, with good people, in the right way.
The CEO isn't looking for someone to come in and simply manage a department.
They're looking for a
partner in leadership
.
Someone who will help bring people together.
Someone who will create an environment where people feel supported, valued and proud of the work they do.
Someone who understands that sometimes leadership means making the big decision and sometimes it means simply putting the kettle on, sitting down with someone and listening.
—
This could be the opportunity to bring your experience, your leadership and your heart to an organisation where all three will matter.
