About QIMR Berghofer:
QIMR Berghofer is a world-leading translational medical research institute focused on improving health by developing new diagnostics, better treatments and prevention strategies, specifically in the areas of Cancer, Infection and Inflammation, Brain and Mental Health, and Population Health.
Based in Herston, Brisbane and working in close collaboration with clinicians and other research institutes, QIMR Berghofer is home to more than 600 scientists, students and non-research staff.
About Your Lab:
The Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Group focuses on generating epidemiological evidence to guide policy and practice decisions to improve the prevention of cardiovascular and related chronic diseases.
A particular focus is on using big data and modelling to enhance disease risk prediction to guide treatment decisions in primary care and generating evidence to address gaps in implementation of preventive interventions.
Role Purpose / Responsibilities:
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral Research Officer/Senior Research Officer (appointment level will depend on level of skills and experience).
Critical appraisal of evidence, including conducting systematic reviews.
Designing and undertaking epidemiological analyses including of large-scale linked health and administrative datasets.
Leading and contributing to the development of scientific publications and other outputs.
About you:
You are required to have:
Qualifications (PhD*) in epidemiology, public health,
health services, medicine, biostatistics, data science or a related field.
Demonstrated record of achievement in chronic disease research.
At least three years postdoctoral experience in analysing large-scale linked health data.
Demonstrated ability to use and interpret outputs from software packages such as Stata, R or SAS.
Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written work.
Excellent oral and written communication and intrapersonal skills with the ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
Experience in disease risk prediction and/or cardiovascular disease research is highly desirable.
*Applicants who have a Masters degree in a relevant area and meet the other selection criteria are encouraged to apply.
Duties, responsibilities, and remuneration offered will be adapted accordingly.
Remuneration:
Salary range is $98,983 to $132,583 plus super and generous salary packaging.
This is a full time, fixed term appointment up until 30 June ****.
Part-time appointment will also be considered.
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
