We are seeking an experienced finance professional to provide support, advice and technical accounting services to the Assistant Director - Finance, and Director - Finance in relation to management of the Reef Authority's finances.
Responsibilities include assisting with the preparation of monthly reporting and annual financial statements, acquittals to funding agencies, assisting with the Reef Authority's tax liabilities, preparation of reconciliations, producing accurate and timely financial information for management, and providing leadership within the financial accounting team.
You will provide expertise to maintain and analyse the Reef Authority's financial management system.
This position is responsible for the supervision, coaching and support for the Finance Officer responsible for the accounts payable function.
What you'll do
Provide support for and maintenance of all financial and asset records, including input into requisite taxation and internal monthly management reporting requirements.
Provide input into the Central Budget Management System (CBMS) requirements of the monthly and annual financial reports, and the Reef Authority's appropriations.
Support the preparation of the Annual Financial Statements conforming to external audit legislative requirements.
Provide advice on accounting issues as required and contribute to the development of the Reef Authority's financial management strategy and internal controls to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation.
Provide expertise and maintenance of the Reef Authority's financial management system through user access, optimising system potential and producing accurate and timely information to inform decision making.
Manage special projects as required and encourage adherence to prescribed policies and procedures.
Provide leadership, guidance and coaching to direct report/s to ensure the delivery of effective and efficient outcomes and that the service provided meets the needs of the Authority's internal and external clients.

You will have strong finance systems knowledge and experience
Tertiary qualifications in business, commerce or accounting, and a minimum of 3 years relevant post-graduate experience in an accounting environment.
