Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA) is a not-for-profit organization working for people with spinal cord injury (SCI).
We are passionate about continually improving our service offerings and driving innovation to provide maximum opportunity for those lives affected by traumatic injury.
With an objective to carry out and support the organization in the achievement of its vision "A society without barriers for people with SCI".
What we do: Enhancing people's functionality and health through exercise Offering a one-stop-shop for information on services, advice and support available Sharing the lived experience of having an SCI through peer support Influencing social change on a systemic and individual level Providing temporary and emergency care to people in their homes as required Supporting people back into employment, education or training Operating an Australian Disability Enterprise that employs people with disability and pays full award wages Providing accommodation for people transitioning home from hospital, or who need a break.
SCIA was founded by people with Spinal Cord Injuries.
We employ and support SCI disabilities and at present they make up 33% of our staff.
We are a member based organisation, with more than 2,000 members that include people with disability, their families, carers and professionals in the sector.
As a NDIS provider, we are committed to the ongoing improvement of our processes and procedures to ensure that our service delivery complies with the National Practice Principles and NDIS Safeguards commission.
SCIA NeuroMoves are now proudly part of the Royal Rehab Group which is a leading Australian provider of specialist neurological rehabilitation and community-based therapy services.
About the role.
.
The SCIA Resource Hub is an online information service supporting people with spinal cord injury (SCI) and neurological conditions, their families, carers,



friends and service providers.
It includes a range of digital content including podcasts, videos, website blogs and articles and more created and produced by people with lived experience of a disability and also includes guest contributors.
As a Volunteer Content Creator , you will dedicate one to two days a month to creating digital content that makes a difference in the lives of people living with SCI and related neurological conditions.
Your work will help bring SCIA's Resource Hub to life, providing information, inspiration, and connection to the community that relies on it.
Key Responsibilities Induction Training: Complete the SCIA Content Creators induction program to become familiar with SCIA's content guidelines, policies, and digital platforms Planning Collaboration: Attend monthly planning and development meetings, including virtual group sessions and/or one-on-one mentoring with the Senior Digital Content Project Manager.
Participate in strategic discussions to support SCIA's content priorities and ensure alignment with community needs Content Development: Create new content on a regular basis (as agreed), tailored to your interests, skills, and SCIA priorities.
This may include: Written articles and newsletters, Podcasts and video content, Social media posts and campaigns, Resource development Community Engagement: Engage with your local community to identify relevant issues, collaborate with guest contributors, and highlight lived experiences.
Use these insights to inform and enrich SCIA's Resource Hub content offerings Collaboration Peer Support: Work alongside other Volunteer Content Creators to share knowledge, skills, and creative approaches.




Provide constructive feedback and support to maintain high-quality, innovative content across SCIA's platforms Promotion Awareness: Support SCIA activities to raise awareness of resources and initiatives, ensuring content reaches the people who will benefit most Feedback Innovation: Contribute ideas and suggestions to shape SCIA's ongoing content strategy, ensuring it reflects the diversity of the disability community and continues to meet emerging needs About you.
