An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Specialist Health Safety Advisor to join our Civil Division on a major infrastructure project located near Moranbah, Queensland.
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will play a key role in fostering a proactive safety culture, partnering with operational teams and influencing project stakeholders to achieve outstanding safety, health, environmental and training (SHET) outcomes.
This position is ideally suited to a safety professional who enjoys being visible in the field, building strong relationships and driving practical risk management solutions on complex civil construction projects.
This role operates on a 9 days on, 5 days off roster , with FIFO from Brisbane or DIDO from surrounding regions .
Camp accommodation and meals are provided where required.
Key Responsibilities Facilitate and lead project risk assessments aligned with construction activities and project schedules.
Develop, implement and champion a project-specific SHE monitoring program informed by risk assessments and critical risk controls.
Monitor the effectiveness of the project's Safety, Health and Environmental Management Plan and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide practical safety leadership and contribute risk-based content to toolbox talks, pre-start meetings and project communications.
Lead and support incident investigations, including conducting high-quality ICAM investigations and identifying sustainable corrective actions.
Build a strong and engaged safety culture founded on trust,
accountability and respect.
Maintain compliance with both Golding and client Safety and Health Management Systems.
Identify opportunities to improve workforce safety performance, wellbeing and risk awareness.
Conduct regular field interactions, safety inspections and coaching activities to support frontline teams and supervisors.
About You To be successful in this role, you will be an engaging and influential safety professional with excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for supporting people and improving project outcomes.
You will bring: Degree or Diploma qualifications in Occupational Health Safety or a related discipline.
Previous safety experience within civil construction, infrastructure, roads, bulk earthworks or related heavy industry environments.
Demonstrated experience facilitating risk assessments for high-risk construction and heavy industry activities.
Strong knowledge of incident reporting, investigation and corrective action management.
Proven ICAM investigation experience.
Experience conducting safety audits, inspections and compliance monitoring.
The ability to build positive working relationships and effectively influence stakeholders at all levels.
