Senior Property Lawyer About the Role: An established corporate and commercial law firm in Perth, Western Australia is seeking an experienced Senior Property Lawyer to join its growing Property & Commercial practice.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior property lawyer looking for greater autonomy, meaningful client relationships, and a clear pathway for long-term career progression.
The successful candidate will manage their own matters from start to finish while advising a diverse client base on sophisticated property and commercial transactions.
The role offers exposure to complex and varied matters, direct interaction with senior leadership, and the opportunity to mentor junior lawyers while continuing to develop a strong individual practice.
Key Responsibilities: Manage property and general commercial matters independently from inception through completion.
Draft and negotiate contracts for the sale and acquisition of land.
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial, retail, and other leasing documentation.
Manage property sales and acquisitions, including due diligence, negotiations, and completion.
Advise clients on property development matters and related regulatory requirements.
Advise on matters involving the Strata Titles Act, Duties Act, Contaminated Sites Act, and Personal Property Securities Act.
Handle land title and land use matters, including drafting and registering easements and restrictive covenants.
Draft and negotiate general commercial agreements, including sale of business, sale of shares, finance, and securities documentation.
Provide practical, commercially focused legal advice tailored to client objectives.
Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
Mentor and supervise junior lawyers while supporting the wider legal team.
Work closely with directors and colleagues on complex transactions and client matters.
Manage competing priorities, deadlines, and client expectations while maintaining high standards of legal work.
Required Qualifications: J.D. or equivalent Australian law degree.
Admission to practice law in Western Australia.
Minimum 5 years of post-admission experience in property and general commercial law.
Strong experience managing property transactions and matters independently.
Demonstrated experience with property sales and acquisitions, leasing, development, and land title matters.
Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, including sale of business, sale of shares, finance, and securities documents.
Working knowledge of relevant Western Australian property legislation and regulatory requirements.
Hands-on experience with PEXA and Revenue Online.
Strong legal research, analytical, drafting, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build trusted client relationships.
Strong commercial judgment and the ability to provide practical, outcome-focused legal advice.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure.
Ability to manage multiple matters independently while working collaboratively with a broader legal team.
Experience mentoring or supervising junior lawyers.
