The Company
Our client is a well-established, Australian-owned freight forwarding business with a strong reputation and a long history within the industry. As the business continues to grow, you'll be reporting directly to the Managing Director, and play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the business while providing leadership and guidance across the team.
The Role
Act as 2IC to the Managing Director, providing support across the business and stepping in during their absence
Lead, mentor and support a small team of staff
Oversee day-to-day operational and customer service activities
Manage and develop key customer relationships and accounts
Attend client and prospective client meetings alongside the MD, providing your freight forwarding expertise and operational insight
Understand customer requirements and help assess how the business can best support new opportunities
Contribute to internal discussions, business planning and brainstorming around the ongoing growth of the business
Identify opportunities to improve processes, service levels and overall business performance
Provide guidance and support to the wider team using your strong freight forwarding knowledge and experience
About You




Robust experience within freight forwarding, with a solid understanding of the industry and its operations
Previous experience across customer service, operations and/or key account management
Experience managing or mentoring operational teams
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
The confidence to attend client meetings and contribute to conversations around operational requirements and solutions
A commercially minded approach, with an understanding of customers and the broader business
The ability to think strategically while still being comfortable getting involved in the day-to-day
A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to work closely with senior leadership
The maturity and confidence to step up and take ownership when required
