The Department for Infrastructure and Transport plays a vital role connecting people and places in South Australia by managing roads, marine and public transport networks across the State, and builds and maintains the State-owned infrastructure that enables the delivery of essential and important government services to our community.
The Media directorate within the Public Affairs division works with business units across the Department to get the best possible media outcomes by using traditional and social media. These are important channels to inform, educate and engage with our customers and other stakeholders.
The Media Adviser provides high level media services whilst working closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver information and messaging to a range of different audiences, as well as providing day-to-day media support across the Department.
The successful candidate will demonstrate proven experience working within a media or political environment, with a strong track record in coordinating and delivering proactive media opportunities, as well as effectively managing media enquiries. You communicate with clarity and credibility, and are skilled in negotiating, resolving and interpreting complex information to provide informed, expert advice to key stakeholders.
Educational Qualifications / Licences




Relevant tertiary level qualifications in communications or a related field or equivalent industry experience is desirable.
Special Conditions
A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
A Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, which must be renewed every five years before expiry.
This role is required to provide rostered after-hours on-call media support.
Some out of hours and weekend work may be required.
Tenure of Vacancy
Temporary appointment up to two (2) years.
Remuneration
ASO5 - $92,122 to $102,456 pa + superannuation.
