Position No: 2027-1527-TCH-B-0-3
Applications Close: 20/10/2026 11:30 PM

Position Descriptor:
Mimili Anangu School is located in a remote Aboriginal community on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands, approximately 70 km west of the Stuart Highway and 450 km south of Alice Springs by road. It offers a unique and rewarding opportunity to live and work in a culturally rich community surrounded by the beauty of Central Australia.

We are seeking a dedicated Playgroup Teacher to lead the Families as First Teachers (FaFT) program as part of the school?s early childhood education provision. In this role, you will design, develop and deliver a holistic early childhood program for birth to 3-year-old children and their families, using FaFT resources and the Early Years Learning Framework to support early learning and parenting in ways that meet the needs of the Mimili community.

The successful applicant will work closely with Anangu Educators to deliver all aspects of the program and will also provide non-instruction time release for Junior Primary or Lower Primary teachers. Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara languages are central to the learning program, alongside a robust focus on oral language, reading, EALD strategies, culturally responsive pedagogies and trauma-informed practices.

We are looking for someone who is flexible, community-minded and able to work collaboratively with families, service providers and staff to deliver an engaging and relevant learning program. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a good sense of humour will be highly valued.

This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and families, while becoming part of a welcoming and dedicated school team. On weekends, you can explore the remarkable landscapes of Central Australia ? from the Musgrave Ranges to Uluru, Kings Canyon and the surrounds of Alice Springs ? or learn more about country and culture alongside Anangu community members.

To apply, please supply your CV and respond to the following questions:
1. Describe your experience in planning and delivering early childhood programs that support both children and families.
How have you created engaging learning experiences for young children and supported families as their child?s first teacher?
2. How do you ensure your teaching is culturally responsive and inclusive of children and families from Aboriginal and linguistically diverse backgrounds?
Please include any experience working in partnership with Aboriginal educators, families or communities.
3. This role requires flexibility and collaboration across the school.
Please provide an example of how you have worked with colleagues or other services to meet the diverse learning and wellbeing needs of children and families.

In addition to salary, the following incentives apply:

Locality Allowance of approximately $14,000/ annum
Fully subsidised accommodation, including utilities (may be shared)
Removal and relocation expenses
Four paid travel days per term
