The Opportunity
Based in our Perth office and working 25 hours per week, you will have national coverage and work closely with our recruitment teams, leadership, Payroll and Finance, Compliance & Administration, contractors and clients.
You will take a hands-on role in managing workplace injuries and workers compensation claims from initial notification through to recovery and sustainable return to work.
Beyond injury management, you'll help manage and continuously improve our national HSE framework, support contractor and client safety compliance, and oversee the systems and processes that underpin our approach to workplace health and safety.
Injury Management & Return to Work
- Manage workplace injuries and workers' compensation claims end-to-end, working closely with our Payroll team.
- Be a key point of contact for injured workers, supporting and guiding them throughout their recovery and return-to-work journey.
- Liaise with doctors, insurers, rehabilitation consultants, allied health providers and other treating practitioners.
- Develop and manage return-to-work plans and suitable duties arrangements.
- Work with our internal teams and client site managers to identify appropriate duties and locations for returning workers.
- Coordinate treatment, rehabilitation services, case conferences and stakeholder meetings.
- Identify barriers to recovery early and proactively work with relevant stakeholders to overcome them.
- Monitor active claims and ensure treatment, rehabilitation and return-to-work milestones continue to progress.
- Maintain accurate case records, claim documentation and Core Talent's national injury management and return-to-work register.
- Provide practical guidance to Payroll and Finance on workers' compensation, injury management and return-to-work requirements.
HSE & Safety Management
- Provide practical HSE advice and guidance to our teams nationally.
- Support the ongoing review, management and continuous improvement of Core Talent's HSE Management Plan.
- Maintain and improve our HSE Management System, ensuring policies, procedures, registers and supporting documentation remain current and accessible.
- Support the effective use of SafetyCulture, including site walkthroughs, workplace assessments, inspections and audits.
- Review findings from site walkthroughs and assessments, identify risks, and ensure corrective actions are appropriately managed and closed out.
- Support workplace incident and near-miss investigations and coordinate follow-up actions.
- Monitor HSE data and trends to identify recurring risks and opportunities for preventative action.
- Support the development of HSE initiatives, communications and education across the business.
Contractor & Client Compliance
- Work closely with our internal Compliance & Administration Specialist to support HSE and contractor compliance across our national workforce.
- Help ensure contractors operate in accordance with applicable HSE, licensing, competency and regulatory requirements within the state or territory in which they are engaged.
- Work with recruitment teams and clients to understand site-specific HSE and compliance requirements and incorporate these into contractor onboarding and placement processes.
- Provide guidance to internal stakeholders where HSE and regulatory requirements differ between Australian jurisdictions.
- Monitor relevant changes to WHS legislation, regulations and codes of practice and support the implementation of changes across our HSE framework.
- Identify and address HSE or contractor compliance gaps before they become significant risks.
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with a practical,
approachable and people-focused style.
You'll ideally bring:
- Experience across HSE, injury management, workers' compensation and/or return-to-work coordination.
- Experience managing workplace injuries and workers' compensation claims from initial notification through to return to work.
- Sound knowledge of Australian WHS, workers' compensation and injury management requirements.
- Experience working across multiple Australian jurisdictions will be highly regarded.
- Experience developing and managing return-to-work plans and suitable duties programs.
- Experience with HSE management systems, workplace inspections, audits and risk assessments.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence liaising with workers, clients, insurers, medical practitioners and rehabilitation providers.
- Excellent case management, documentation and organisational skills.
- The ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities within a part-time working week.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to workplace safety and injury management.
- Experience within recruitment, labour hire, construction, manufacturing, mining, engineering, energy, electrical or another high-risk workforce environment will be highly regarded.
- Experience using SafetyCulture and SharePoint would be advantageous.
Relevant qualifications in Work Health & Safety, Injury Management, Occupational Rehabilitation, Workers Compensation or a related discipline, along with Return to Work Coordinator training or certification, will be highly regarded.
Why Join Core Talent?
This is an opportunity to take on a highly visible national role while maintaining the flexibility of part-time hours.
- Work 25 hours per week in a role offering genuine scope, autonomy and responsibility.
- Take ownership of HSE and injury management across a diverse national contractor workforce.
- Work across some of Australia's largest and most dynamic industries.
- Partner directly with our leadership, operational teams and clients.
- Shape and continuously improve our HSE systems, processes and technology.
- Build preventative HSE initiatives rather than operating purely in a reactive environment.
- Join a growing, established recruitment organisation with a collaborative and high-performing culture.
If you're passionate about workplace safety, enjoy supporting people through their recovery and are looking for a part-time prospect where you can make a meaningful impact across a national business, we'd love to hear from you.
