Lead Excellence in Sterile Compounding

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Pharmacist Team Lead to join our hospital pharmacy team and provide leadership for our Compounding Services. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled pharmacist to drive quality, safety, and innovation while supporting the delivery of patient-centred care.

As the Team Lead, you will provide operational and skilled leadership to the compounding pharmacy workforce, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant preparation of sterile medicines. You will work collaboratively with pharmacy, nursing, and medical teams to support optimal patient outcomes and service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate daily operations of the hospital's compounding service.

Provide clinical, operational, and professional leadership to pharmacists, technicians, and support staff.

Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, guidelines, and accreditation requirements.

Oversee quality assurance, risk management, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Support workforce development through staff training, mentoring, and performance management.

Drive service innovation and optimisation to improve efficiency, safety, and patient care.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders to meet the specialised medication needs of patients.

Contribute to strategic planning, policy development, and service expansion initiatives.

About You





You are an experienced pharmacist with a strong background in compounding services and a passion for leadership. You are recognised for your ability to build high-performing teams, foster a culture of safety and excellence, and deliver outstanding patient-focused services.

Essential Requirements:

Current registration as a Pharmacist with AHPRA.

Significant experience in sterile and/or non-sterile compounding within a hospital or healthcare setting.

Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.

Strong knowledge of quality systems, regulatory requirements, and risk management principles.

Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable:

Postgraduate qualifications or advanced training in pharmacy practice, management, oncology, manufacturing, or quality systems.

Experience leading aseptic, chemotherapy, or specialised compounding services.

Experience in service development, project management, or accreditation activities.
