About the role:
Noarlunga Acute General Medical ward is a purpose-built unit at the Noarlunga Hospital. With 24 beds dedicated to General Medicine to provide higher acuity and when needed end of life care for our local community, we practice a multidisciplinary model of care with skilled staff. This specialised unit is not limited by the boundaries of medical subspecialties.
Duties for the role will include:
- Provide health promotion and education, to patients/clients or groups and carers to improve the health outcomes of individuals,
- Support nursing/midwifery practice and learning experiences for students undertaking clinical placements, orientation for new staff and preceptorship of graduates,
- Contribute to procedures for effectively dealing with people exhibiting challenging behaviours,
- Review decisions, assessments and recommendations from less experienced Registered Nurses/ Midwives and Enrolled Nurses and students,
- Under the guidance of a registered nurse coordinates and guides activities of student enrolled nurses and assistants in nursing
About you:
- Effective communication skills including, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills,
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,
- Ability to prioritise workload, recognise and report changes in clinical condition,
- Ability to be, creative, innovative, and flexible when approaching issues within a healthcare setting,
- Experience in working in an acute care setting and a willingness to learn and expand current skills,
- Experience in managing deteriorating patients
