About the Prospect
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Cook to join the catering team at Meningie Hospital. In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation, production, and distribution of quality meals while ensuring food safety standards and dietary requirements are consistently met. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the delivery of essential health services within a supportive regional healthcare environment.
Key Duties
- Prepare and cook bulk meals for patients, residents, staff and visitors.
- Ensure meals are prepared in accordance with dietary requirements and food safety standards.
- Plate and distribute meals accurately and efficiently.
- Order and maintain stock levels of non-production food items.
- Liaise with dietitians, nursing staff and other stakeholders regarding dietary needs.
- Assist with menu collation and food service planning.
- Operate kitchen equipment and maintain accurate records where required.
- Monitor food quality and presentation standards.
- Organise and support catering functions as required.
- Maintain a clean, safe and compliant working environment.
- Support other team members and assist with on-the-job training when required.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Current National Police Check.
- Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Australian working rights
- Experience preparing and cooking bulk meals.
- Experience catering for special dietary requirements.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement.
- Flexible approach to shift work and rostering requirements.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a rapid-paced environment.
- Knowledge of safe food handling, food storage and food safety practices.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Current driver's licence and reliable transport.
Highly Regarded:
- Previous experience working in a hospital, aged care or healthcare environment.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Year 11 completion or equivalent.
- Experience preparing menus and balancing meal plans.
- Experience maintaining staff rosters.
- Manual handling experience or training.
