UNSW Sydney is seeking an outstanding clinician-academic leader to become the next Head of School of Clinical Medicine and Vice Dean within UNSW Medicine & Health.

The School of Clinical Medicine is the Faculty's largest and most research-productive academic school, spanning metropolitan and rural clinical campuses and health precincts. Home to UNSW's flagship Medical Program and a thriving research community, the School generates more than half of the Faculty's research income and plays a major role in connecting clinical practice, education, research and innovation.

Reporting to the Dean, UNSW Medicine & Health, the Head of School and Vice Dean will provide strategic and operational leadership across this large and distributed clinical academic community. The role presents an exceptional opportunity to strengthen the clinician-researcher pipeline, advance research translation and clinical trials, contribute to the continued modernisation of medical education, and realise the potential of UNSW's clinical campuses and precincts through strong partnerships with health services, medical research institutes and other collaborators.

UNSW is seeking an accomplished clinician-academic and people leader with robust academic standing, clinical credibility and demonstrated experience leading within a complex university, academic health or health system environment.



The successful candidate will bring a sustained record of achievement across research, education and academic leadership, together with the ability to unite diverse teams, strengthen performance and build trusted relationships across university and healthcare systems.

The appointee will be a medical practitioner registered or eligible for registration in Australia, with a relevant specialist qualification, and will hold a PhD or equivalent. They will bring a collaborative and culturally responsive leadership style and a strong commitment to advancing health equity, innovation and inclusion.
