Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to support the delivery of the IRIS Project, a strategic program focused on creating a unified intelligence platform through the integration of multiple data sources into a sophisticated graph database setting.
This innovative project will provide operational teams and intelligence analysts with a comprehensive, real-time view of intelligence data, enabling more effective analysis, investigation support and operational decision-making.
About the Role
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building and optimising the data architecture that underpins our client's Graph Analytics capability.
Working within a collaborative team of internal specialists and external vendors, you will develop robust data engineering solutions that transform complex and disparate datasets into meaningful intelligence insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement and establish a medallion architecture for a Neo4j graph database environment.
- Develop, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes across multiple source systems.
- Integrate and transform data from a range of disparate operational and intelligence platforms.
- Support the development and optimisation of graph analytics capabilities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, data scientists, analysts, architects and technical teams to deliver project outcomes.
- Ensure data quality, security, governance and performance standards are maintained.
- Create technical documentation and contribute to knowledge transfer and handover activities.
- Support the ongoing enhancement of our client's intelligence and analytics capabilities.
Skills & ExperienceTo be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- 5+ years' experience as a Data Engineer working within medium to large-scale projects.
- Strong programming experience in Python, SQL, Java, or similar technologies.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Data engineering and data integration
- ETL development and automation
- Data warehousing solutions
- Big data technologies
- Graph databases, preferably Neo4j
- Experience implementing medallion data architecture frameworks.
- Strong understanding of:
- Data modelling
- Data governance
- Data security
- Data quality management
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and multi-vendor environments.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
Desirable
- Experience working with graph databases and graph analytics platforms.
- Exposure to intelligence, law enforcement, public sector, or highly regulated environments.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale analytics and decision-support platforms.
