Mr Chemist Jewels Pty Ltd operates a Priceline Pharmacy and is seeking a qualified, customer-focused Retail Pharmacist to join our pharmacy team on a full-time basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a pharmacist who enjoys delivering safe, professional and personalised healthcare advice in a busy community pharmacy environment. You will work closely with customers, prescribers, pharmacy technicians, interns and pharmacy assistants to support positive health outcomes for our local community.
About the role
As a Retail Pharmacist, you will be responsible for the safe and accurate dispensing of prescription medicines, patient counselling, medication management and the provision of professional pharmacy services.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Receiving and reviewing prescriptions, checking patient medication histories and confirming appropriate dosage, administration methods, drug interactions, contraindications and compatibility before dispensing
- Dispensing and checking prescription medicines accurately, including supervising the preparation and labelling of medicines where required
- Providing clear advice to customers about prescription medicines, non-prescription medicines, health products, medical aids and therapeutic goods
- Counselling patients on the safe and effective use of medicines, potential side effects, medicine storage and adherence to treatment plans
- Liaising with doctors and other prescribers regarding prescriptions, medicine compatibility, dosage concerns and contraindications
- Reviewing and monitoring patients’ medicine therapy and identifying possible medicine-related issues
- Maintaining accurate prescription records and ensuring the proper storage, handling and recording of Schedule 8 medicines,
poisons and other controlled medicines
- Ensuring vaccines, medicines and other temperature-sensitive products are stored and preserved correctly
- Supporting the delivery of skilled pharmacy services, including vaccinations and medication management services, where appropriately qualified
- Supervising and coordinating the work of pharmacy technicians, pharmacy interns and pharmacy sales assistants
- Maintaining a clean, protected and compliant dispensary and ensuring pharmacy procedures meet professional, legal and quality standards
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A recognised pharmacy qualification
- Current general registration with AHPRA as a pharmacist
- Experience working in a retail or community pharmacy environment
- Solid knowledge of dispensing procedures, pharmacy legislation, medication safety and professional standards
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- The ability to provide skilled and easy-to-understand medicine advice to customers from different backgrounds
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately in a busy pharmacy environment
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and support junior pharmacy staff
- Vaccination accreditation and experience with professional pharmacy services will be highly regarded
