Degree C

Hobart

A hands-on fire service role with strong conditions, secure work and a team behind you.

Degree C is looking for an experienced Fire Technician / Electrician to join our Fire team.

This is a hands-on service role working across a range of commercial and industrial sites, maintaining, programming and fault-finding fire detection systems to ensure they meet current standards and perform when it matters.

If you're experienced, self-motivated and take pride in doing the job properly, you'll fit in well here.

Depending on your experience, this position will be paid at Level 6–8 under our Electrical EBA – currently $50.62 to $56.68 per hour, before overtime, penalties and additional allowances.

THE ROLE

You'll be responsible for delivering high-quality servicing, maintenance, fault finding and programming across a range of electronic fire detection systems.

Your expertise will directly contribute to safety outcomes for our customers, ensuring systems are reliable, compliant and maintained in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and the Building Code of Australia.

There'll be plenty of variety across different sites, customers, systems and technologies, with the autonomy to manage your work backed by an experienced and well-run service team.

Your work will include servicing and maintaining fire detection and alarm systems; diagnosing and resolving faults; programming a range of fire detection systems; working with EWIS, VESDA and suppression systems; completing system upgrades, alterations and minor works; assisting with new installations, testing and commissioning; completing service and compliance documentation; and communicating directly with customers and site representatives.

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for someone who brings both technical capability and the right approach to the job.

Strong experience with fire detection systems is essential, along with proven ability in servicing, fault-finding and programming.

You'll ideally also bring experience with systems such as EWIS, VESDA and fire suppression systems, a sound understanding of relevant Australian Standards and compliance requirements, good diagnostic and problem-solving skills, and the confidence to work independently and take ownership of your jobs.

You'll need a current driver's licence and Construction White Card, while an electrical licence and additional licences such as EWP will be highly regarded.

Just as importantly, we're looking for someone who is reliable, manages their time well, communicates professionally with customers and colleagues, and holds a high standard for the quality of their work.

MORE THAN AN HOURLY RATE

Your hourly rate is only one part of what the role is worth. Degree C's employment package includes pay, leave, protection and additional benefits designed to add genuine value over the course of the year.

Level 6 – $50.62/hour
Level 7 – $53.47/hour
Level 8 – $56.68/hour

Your level will be determined by your qualifications and experience.

On top of your base rate, the package includes:

- Strong overtime and penalty rates – Monday to Friday overtime is time-and-a-half for the first two hours, then double time; weekend work is double time and public holidays are triple time.

- Paid RDOs – choose a 36 or 38-hour week and bank hours towards a paid day off either fortnightly or monthly.

- Travel Allowance Time (TAT) – get paid extra when you start your day on site, with additional paid travel time for eligible jobs further away.

- Weekly redundancy contribution – Degree C contributes to an approved redundancy scheme on top of your weekly pay, which is accessible when you leave the company for any reason.

- Income protection – up to $1,600 per week if an injury or illness keeps you from working, even when it isn't work-related.

- Parental leave top-up – 100% of your regular base salary while receiving Government Paid Parental Leave, for up to 8 weeks for a birthing parent or 4 weeks for a non-birthing parent.

- Company vehicle – a company vehicle is provided as part of this role.

- Company phone or phone allowance.

- Work clothing & PPE – uniforms and all required PPE are provided.
