Senior Manager Asset Management (Temporary Opportunity up to 35 months)

Job category: Senior Executive
Job location:

Job reference number: 110273
Employment type: Fixed Term Full-Time
Salary range: An attractive remuneration package
You’re a determined leader who stays true to your purpose and enjoys overcoming setbacks or obstacles.
If finding complex technological solutions is your game, we've got the team for you. You're going to help us create seamless operations that result in efficiency for millions of customers.
In this role, you'll:
Play a pivotal role in shaping the long-term performance, sustainability and value of Sydney Metro's critical infrastructure assets. This is a client-side strategic asset management role focused on ensuring Sydney Metro makes informed asset management decisions across the entire asset lifecycle, well beyond the term of any maintenance or operating contract. Working as the Asset Custodian, you'll help determine how assets are renewed, replaced and managed to optimise whole-of-life performance, risk, reliability and cost outcomes for the network.
You'll work across the full breadth of Sydney Metro and the wider Transport ecosystem, bringing together planning, operations, engineering, project delivery, strategy and finance teams to ensure asset decisions are aligned and informed by a whole-of-life perspective. The role has a strong focus on asset renewals and replacement programs across major rail infrastructure including track, tunnels, bridges and supporting systems. You'll provide expert advice on future asset strategies, influence major investment and renewal decisions, and help guide the transition of new infrastructure into operations while balancing operational performance, risk and future network needs.
Success in this role will depend on your ability to build trusted relationships and influence a diverse stakeholder group, including Transport agencies,
current and future operators, major project delivery teams, contractors and technical specialists. While you will lead a small team, stakeholder leadership will be equally important as you navigate complex interfaces and bring multiple functions together to achieve the best outcomes for Sydney Metro's assets and customers.
This is a fixed term full time role until 30th June 2029.

About you
You are an experienced asset management professional with a strong track record of developing and implementing asset management approaches within complex, asset-intensive environments. We are seeking someone who has been directly involved in making and delivering asset management decisions, applying whole-of-life asset management principles to improve asset performance, manage risk and inform renewal and replacement strategies. You bring a strategic mindset but are equally comfortable drawing on practical experience to influence outcomes.
Ideally, you will bring significant experience within the rail industry, although candidates from other major transport, infrastructure or regulated asset environments will also be considered. You will hold tertiary qualifications in Engineering and have hands-on experience developing and implementing asset management strategies for complex infrastructure assets. You will understand how to balance performance, risk and whole-of-life cost considerations to inform asset renewal and investment decisions. Experience in asset lifecycle planning,
reliability-centred maintenance, operational readiness and asset assurance will be highly regarded.
Most importantly, you are a collaborative and influential leader who can engage effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, from engineers and operators through to executives, project teams and external partners. You will be comfortable challenging conventional thinking, balancing competing priorities and driving alignment across multiple functions to achieve optimal long-term asset outcomes for Sydney Metro and the people of New South Wales.
