Join ABBA Engineering in Kalgoorlie as a Yard & Logistics Assistant and play an important role in keeping our workshop, yard, equipment and deliveries running smoothly.
This is an entry-level opportunity for someone who enjoys being active, working with equipment and getting things done. You don't need extensive logistics experience – what matters most is your reliability, safety mindset, willingness to learn and positive attitude.
You'll work across yard operations, equipment movements, deliveries, dispatch, off-hire processing, asset cleaning and stores support, with training provided on our systems and processes.

About the Role
As a Yard & Logistics Assistant, you'll help keep our Kalgoorlie workshop, yard and stores safe, organised and running efficiently.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised yard, stores and washdown areas.
- Loading and unloading vehicles and assisting with equipment movements.
- Preparing equipment and materials for dispatch and deliveries.
- Completing local collections and deliveries to suppliers, clients and other Company locations.
- Receiving returned hire and customer equipment, including condition checks, photographs and tagging.
- Completing off-hire processing within 24 hours of equipment arriving at the yard.
- Identifying and reporting damage, faults, missing components, hazards or other issues.
- Cleaning Company vehicles, equipment and returned hire equipment.
- Assisting with stores activities including receiving goods, picking, packing, stock movements and stocktakes.
- Performing authorised basic maintenance tasks and reporting maintenance requirements.
- Maintaining accurate records and supporting the workshop, stores and operations teams as required.
- Assisting with regional or site deliveries when required, which may occasionally involve an overnight stay.
This is a varied, hands-on role where reliability, organisation and a willingness to help are highly valued. Training and support will be provided to help you learn our systems, processes and equipment.

- The yard is clean, organised and safe.
- Equipment and materials are easy to locate.
- Deliveries and dispatches are completed safely and on time.
- Returned equipment is accurately recorded and photographed.
- Damage, faults and missing items are identified and reported promptly.
- Company vehicles and equipment are clean and well presented.
- The workshop and stores teams can rely on you for day-to-day support.
- Tasks are followed through and completed properly.
- Safety procedures are followed every day.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Reliable – you turn up, get involved and follow tasks through.
- Practical – you enjoy working with equipment and getting your hands dirty.
- Safety-conscious – you take procedures, manual handling and workplace safety seriously.
- Organised – you can keep track of equipment, deliveries and paperwork.
- Willing to learn – you don't need to know everything on day one.
- A team player – you're happy to support the yard, workshop, stores and logistics teams.
- Comfortable working independently – you can get on with assigned tasks while knowing when to ask for help.
This role involves regular manual handling, cleaning, loading/unloading and outdoor yard work,
so you'll need to be comfortable working in a hands-on environment.
Essential
- Current WA C-class driver's licence or higher.
- Current LF Forklift High Risk Work Licence.
- Physical capacity and willingness to undertake manual handling, loading, unloading, cleaning and general yard duties safely.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to accurately complete paper and electronic records.
- Ability to follow work instructions, safety procedures and established processes.
- Reliable attendance, positive attitude and willingness to assist across different operational areas.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, stores, transport, equipment hire, mining services or workshop setting.
- Experience loading and unloading vehicles or operating a forklift.
- MR or HR driver's licence.
- Load-restraint training or practical experience.
- Experience using Simpro or another inventory, asset or job-management system.
