Responsibilities
As the Engineering Manager, you'll lead a team of engineers responsible for a business-critical platform that powers customer communications across multiple brands and channels, including digital, email, SMS and print. You'll balance people leadership with hands-on technical input, partnering closely with Product and other technology leaders to set direction and drive delivery.
Your role will also include:
- Leading the design, delivery and continuous improvement of highly reliable, secure and scalable platforms and integrations.
- Driving API-first, event-driven integration between on-prem and SaaS platforms.
- Coaching, mentoring and developing engineers, building a high-performing and collaborative team culture.
- Owning technical strategy alongside Product and senior technology stakeholders.
- Championing CI/CD, DevOps, observability and production support best practices.
- Balancing customer needs, technical priorities, regulatory compliance and delivery pace.
- Providing hands-on technical leadership on solution design when required.
Requirements
- 6+ years' experience in software engineering, including 4-5+ years in an engineering leadership or management role.
- Strong hands-on background in .NET technologies (C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core).
- Experience designing and building system integrations using REST APIs, events and messaging.
- Experience with distributed systems and modern architectures, including microservices, serverless and cloud-native environments.
- Strong experience with AWS and containerised workloads.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL technologies (SQL Server, DynamoDB, Redis or similar).
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, observability and production support practices.
- Proven experience leading, coaching and developing engineers.
- Strong stakeholder management and delivery skills.
- Experience with print, SMS or email communications platforms is a bonus but not essential.
