True Relationships and Reproductive Health (True) are seeking Expressions of Interest from passionate and committed health professionals to join our Board of Directors as a voluntary Non-Executive Director.
For more than 50 years, True has been improving sexual and reproductive health and supporting protected, respectful relationships across Queensland. Our work extends beyond healthcare, combining clinical services, education, advocacy and community engagement to create lasting impact for individuals, families and communities.

About the opportunity
As a Non-Executive Director, you will contribute to the Board’s collective responsibility for strategic direction, governance,
organisational sustainability, risk oversight and impact.
We are particularly interested in health professionals with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Counselling
- General Practice
- Nursing
- Sexual and Reproductive Health
- Women’s Health
- Clinical Leadership
- Health Service Delivery
We welcome applications from experienced Directors as well as professionals seeking their first Board appointment. We are looking for people who bring strong leadership, strategic thinking, sound judgement and a genuine commitment to good governance and community impact.
A Board that reflects our communities
True is committed to building a Board that reflects the diversity of the people and communities we serve. We particularly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, LGBTQIA+ people, people with disability, people living in regional and remote Queensland, younger people, and people whose professional or lived experience will strengthen a representative, inclusive and effective Board. Applicants must be eligible to hold a Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card), undertake a National Criminal History Check, and satisfy relevant probity requirements.
Commitment
The expected commitment is approximately 10 days per year, including:
- Six Board meetings annually, with remote attendance available.
Board meetings are generally scheduled outside standard business hours.
- Participation on at least one Board Committee.
- Attendance at the Board’s Annual Strategic Planning Day (in person in Brisbane).
- Attendance at the Annual General Meeting.
- Participation in Board strategy sessions and other Board activities as required.
- Additional Committee or Board responsibilities may be required from time to time, depending on Board and organisational priorities.
This is a voluntary, unpaid position. Approved out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
