ABOUT THE ROLE

One Nation is looking for a full-time receptionist & Office administration to join our Head Office team in Brisbane CBD. This is a genuine front-of-house role where you'll be the first voice members, supporters and the public hear when they call and the first face they see when they walk in. Confident, professional phone handling is essential as you'll manage a busy switchboard, answer enquiries about memberships, policies and processes and make sure every caller leaves with the right answer or the right person.

Beyond the phones, you'll keep the office running smoothly by maintaining accurate records in our CRM, handling mail and email and looking after stationery, printers and meeting spaces.

This is an initial 6-month full-time contract with the possibility of extension. It suits someone organised, flexible and comfortable juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced political environment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Reception and phones

Head Office receives a constant stream of calls from members, supporters, media, suppliers and the general public and you'll be the person answering them. You'll manage the main switchboard with confidence and warmth, triaging calls, resolving straightforward enquiries on the spot and transferring more complex matters to the right person. Some callers will be long-standing members with a quick membership question; others may be frustrated, upset or simply want to be heard. You'll need patience and a genuinely professional manner to handle all of them well by hearing each caller's concerns while keeping calls efficient and moving, so no one is left waiting on hold. You'll keep accurate notes and follow up where you've promised to.

Alongside the phones, you'll greet visitors, maintain a tidy and welcoming reception area, manage sign-in sheets and meeting room bookings and handle incoming and outgoing mail and the main office email inbox.

Office administration

You'll support the day-to-day systems that keep Head Office running. That means maintaining accurate records and data entry in our CRM and our other databases, keeping filing and document management in order and making sure stationery, printers, kitchen supplies and meeting spaces are stocked and ready. You'll help refine our office procedures and processes, spotting where things could run more smoothly and suggesting improvements. You'll also assist others in the office with general administrative tasks as they arise.

Memberships

Membership is the lifeblood of the party,

and you'll play a direct role in looking after it. You'll process new applications, renewals and changes to member details, issue membership cards, and respond to membership queries by phone. You'll work closely with the members team and our membership records to make sure information is accurate, up to date and handled with appropriate confidentiality.

Campaigns and branches

When elections and by-elections come around, all hands are on deck. You'll provide support to campaign execution as needed, from coordinating materials and logistics to fielding an increased volume of calls and enquiries. You'll also help support our branch network with administrative tasks and communications.

Working relationships

You'll build and maintain effective working relationships across the organisation: the National Executive, Senator and MP offices, state executives, key stakeholders and suppliers. You'll liaise on processes and issues across these groups to promote consistency, teamwork and effective collaboration, always representing Head Office professionally and in line with the party's values.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

What we're looking for

First and foremost, we're looking for someone who is genuinely good on the phone. You'll have real experience handling a high volume of calls whether that's a busy reception desk, a switchboard, a contact centre or a customer service role and you'll know how to make a caller feel heard while keeping the conversation efficient and moving towards a resolution. You stay calm and courteous under pressure, you can read a caller's tone and adjust your approach and you're comfortable saying no or redirecting someone politely when that's what the situation calls for.

Essential experience and skills

- Excellent interpersonal and people skills, with clear, confident written and verbal communication

- Demonstrated experience managing reception and phones alongside general administration in a fast-paced, diverse environment

- Strong organisation, prioritisation and time management skills, you can juggle a ringing phone, a visitor at the desk and a stack of data entry without dropping any of them

- Experience managing deadlines and expectations across multiple parties and stakeholders

- Solid computer skills and typing proficiency, particularly across the Microsoft Office suite; experience with a CRM or membership database will help you hit the ground running

- The ability to be flexible, use initiative and pitch in wherever needed

- Sound judgement and absolute discretion when handling confidential member and party information

- Knowledge of, and alignment with, One Nation policies and values

- Willingness to undertake a National Police History Check

Desirable

- Previous experience in a political party, MP or Senator's office, campaign or a similar membership-based or not-for-profit organisation

- Experience in a contact centre or high-volume customer service setting

The kind of person who thrives here

Head Office is a small, busy team where no two days look the same and everyone pitches in. You'll do well if you're the sort of person who takes ownership of a problem rather than passing it along, who notices when a process could be improved and says so and who treats colleagues, members and members of the public with the same respect regardless of who they are or how they're feeling that day. You're reliable, you follow through, and you understand that in a political organisation, how you conduct yourself on the phone and at the front desk reflects directly on the party.

CONDITIONS

This is an initial 6-month full-time contract based at One Nation Head Office in Brisbane CBD, with the possibility of extension for the right person. Salary will be commensurate with your skills and experience, plus superannuation. Appointment is subject to a satisfactory National Police History Check and some flexibility in hours may be required during campaign periods and major events.

HOW TO APPLY

Apply using the form on this page. Your application should include:

- A current CV detailing your relevant experience, qualifications and any professional memberships.

- A brief cover letter (no more than one page) outlining your phone and reception experience and why you're interested in working for the Party.

- Confirmation of your eligibility to work in Australia, and your willingness to undergo a National Police History Check and the Party's standard background and character vetting.

Applications are treated as strictly confidential. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted directly; only applicants who address the above will be considered.
