Disability Support Worker- Bendigo

ASTERIA Services is looking for Disability Support Workers to join our team to support a complex dual disability participant.

Who are we?

ASTERIA Services Incorporated is a profit-for-purpose (NFP) community owned organisation.

ASTERIA’s mission is to develop and deliver exemplary services, accommodation, employment, community engagement and life skills for people living with disability.

ASTERIA specialises in 24-hour disability programs for individuals with multiple and complex needs, within supported living and community-based supports, with branches in Maryborough and Bendigo.

ASTERIA builds teams around each participant’s needs and preferences and currently is looking to expand the team supporting a young adult male living with a dual disability.

Our participant lives in supported living accommodation with 1:1 care and enjoys gaming, fishing, metal detecting, op-shopping and has a great sense of humour.

How will you make an impact?

You will have;

· Good judgement and common sense with a willingness to learn and commit to ASTERIA’s values.

· Excellent patience and be willing to put in the time and energy to build rapport with your participant.

· The experience and skills to support participants who can display mental health behaviours of concern.

· The capability to provide emotional support by engaging in conversations and using your active listening skills to support your participant’s needs.





· Great teamwork skills and thrive on collaborating with other support workers and management to gain advice, promote team support and facilitate the best practice for your participant.

· A passion to provide your participant with the highest quality support and care, while maintaining their independence, choice, and control.

· A desire to make a real difference in people’s lives.

· Compassion and resilience, and you are positive with an enthusiastic sense of humour.

What we are we looking for in applicants?

· Disability and mental health experience (qualifications would be advantageous).

· Flexibility to be able to work on a 24-hour roster schedule (ASTERIA promotes a healthy work/life balance) and can commit to a minimum of 2 shifts a week.

· Ability to engage with those you support to ensure maximum outcomes.
