Professional Lead Occupational Therapist

Lead and shape the future of our growing paediatric OT team

Access To Therapy | Springfield & Ipswich, QLD

Are you an experienced paediatric Occupational Therapist looking for a leadership role where you can genuinely influence the way a growing OT team works?

Access To Therapy is a growing paediatric allied health practice based in South East Queensland. We currently have a multidisciplinary team working across our Springfield clinic and the community, and we are preparing to open a new Ipswich site.

We are looking for an experienced paediatric OT to become our Professional Lead Occupational Therapist, providing professional leadership to our small but growing OT team across both sites.

This is a role for someone who enjoys clinical leadership, mentoring and building great teams — without the operational management responsibilities that often come with a traditional Team Leader role.

About the opportunity

We have significant growth ahead.

Over the next four months, we expect to welcome five internationally trained clinicians across Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology, adding further depth to our multidisciplinary team.

At the same time, we are launching our new Ipswich site, which will have a Speech Pathologist as its Site Lead.

We are therefore looking for an Occupational Therapist who can take professional leadership of our OT discipline across both Springfield and Ipswich.

You will help shape what our OT team looks like as we grow — from supporting clinicians and establishing good clinical systems through to deciding what equipment, assessments and resources our team needs to provide high-quality paediatric therapy.

What you'll be responsible for

This is primarily a professional and clinical leadership role, rather than an operational management position.

You will:

- Provide professional leadership to our Occupational Therapy team across two sites

- Provide or coordinate clinical supervision and mentoring

- Support the development of junior and early-career OTs

- Help establish consistent clinical standards and approaches across the OT team

- Support onboarding and professional development of current clinicians, including internationally trained OTs

- Identify training and professional development needs within the team

- Help develop clinical resources, assessment pathways and intervention approaches

- Have input into which standardised assessments, therapy equipment and clinical resources the OT team needs

- Help develop our OT assessment and reporting practices

- Participate in recruitment and interviews for future OT team members

- Help identify the skills and experience we need as the OT team continues to grow

- Support a positive, collaborative OT culture across Springfield and Ipswich

- Work alongside the Speech Pathology and broader multidisciplinary leadership team

- Maintain a clinical caseload and remain connected to the work of our children and families

What you won't be responsible for

We want to be clear about this.

This is not an operations manager role.

You won't be expected to manage:

- Staff rostering

- Payroll

- Invoicing

- General administration

- Business finances

- Day-to-day practice operations

Our goal is for you to focus on what you do best — Occupational Therapy, clinical leadership and developing clinicians.

About you

We are looking for an experienced paediatric Occupational Therapist who is ready to take the next step into professional leadership.

You will ideally have:

- AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist

- Strong paediatric OT experience

- Experience working with children with developmental delay and/or disability

- A genuine interest in clinical supervision and developing other clinicians

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- An interest in building clinical systems and resources

- The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

- A practical, solutions-focused approach

- The confidence to help shape a growing OT discipline rather than simply follow an established model

You don't necessarily need to have held a formal Team Leader title before.

We're more interested in someone who has strong clinical experience, good judgement and a genuine desire to help other OTs grow.

Why Access To Therapy?

We are building something deliberately different.

Our philosophy is centred around Access, Empathy and Hope — for the children and families we support, but also for the people who work with us.

As we grow, we want to maintain a workplace where clinicians are supported, have opportunities to develop, and can do great clinical work without unnecessary layers of administration.

You'll be joining at an exciting stage of our development:

- Established Springfield clinic

- New Ipswich site launching

- Growing paediatric OT team

- Expanding multidisciplinary team

- Five internationally trained OT and Speech Pathology clinicians expected to join over the next four months

- Opportunity to help shape the clinical direction of our OT discipline across two sites

- Strong opportunity for future professional leadership as the team grows

The role

Position: Professional Lead Occupational Therapist
Location: Springfield & Ipswich, QLD
Employment: Full-time preferred, with flexibility for the right candidate
Salary: $120,000 + superannuation
Caseload: Yes — with dedicated time for professional leadership responsibilities

If you're an experienced paediatric OT who wants to lead clinicians, develop a discipline and help shape a growing practice, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply through SEEK or contact us for a confidential conversation about the role.
