This is an exciting prospect for an experienced and skilled facilities professional to lead the maintenance, renewal and compliance of our building portfolio.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can provide strategic and operational leadership across a diverse portfolio of community facilities, ensuring they are safe, compliant, well-maintained and fit for purpose.

It’s a role that combines people leadership, financial management and technical know-how that genuinely matters to the community who use our buildings every day.

About the Role

Reporting to the Executive Manager Property and Facilities, the Facilities Manager is responsible for:

- Direct and supervise the Facilities team in delivering the annual maintenance program, with oversight of statutory and critical plant maintenance (lifts, fire safety systems, essential services) to ensure preventative schedules are met and maintenance records are kept.
- Develop and deliver an annual capital renewal program, prioritised using condition assessment data and aligned to Council's Asset Management Plan ensuring renewal reduces compliance and safety risk exposure across the portfolio.
- Own and discharge Council's WHS due diligence obligations for building compliance, adhering to procedures and maintaining records.




- Procure and manage maintenance service contracts in accordance with Council's procurement policy, managing performance to ensure services meet legislative and contractual standards and ensuring procurements provide the best value for money outcomes.
- Develop facilities maintenance budgets informed on condition assessments, contractor pricing and operational priorities. Undertake continuous monitoring of expenditure budgets and provide accurate and timely financial reporting to support quarterly budget reviews.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the Facilities team, sustaining high standards of practice and high levels of customer service.

Essential Criteria

- Tertiary qualifications in Building, Facilities Management and/or Project Management or substantial equivalent experience in a similar role.
- Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
- Strong procurement and contract management experience.
- Strong project management and organization skills and the ability to plan for and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written communication skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
- Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders including lawyers and business owners.
- Commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
- High-level computer literacy across Microsoft suite or similar databases.
- An understanding of and commitment to EEO.
