The Role

Reporting to the Instrumentation Service Manager, the role provides instrumentation services that enable both continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS) and ambient air quality monitoring stations (AAQMS) to operate and consequently support our service offering to clients.

Key responsibilities

Ensure compliance with the site safety requirements including inductions, JSA/SWMS, prework safety toolbox meetings, vehicle and equipment inspections, PPE, and all other safety related aspects in the execution of work

Inhouse and onsite service, calibration, repair and testing of GAS and PARTICULATE analysers and client instruments including in-situ and extractive CEMS measurement equipment as well as ambient monitoring equipment, weather sensors and meteorological stations, and scientific instrumentation

Coordinate the installation and commissioning of instruments, instrument control systems, telemetered systems, instrumentation communication systems, and associated off grid power system design construction and deployment

Preparation of installation, service, repair, and calibration reports

Co-ordination of projects to maximise client outcomes, including co-ordinating workload, prioritising workflow, and achieving project timeframes

Upskilling other technicians through the development of a robust training matrix and demonstration





Work closely with the local sales staff to help them prepare quotes & tenders, undertake administrative tasks as part of quotation workflow, and provide project management support to team members on existing and new projects

Assist in developing procedural documents for use by technicians and develop procedures to test electronic components and systems

Regularly assess and improve workshop organisation, maintenance, and cleanliness

Assist the stack testing, odour and HSE field teams with instrument maintenance and calibration, as well as testing and tagging

Keep abreast of new trends and regulations in the industry, including reading and understanding all key equipment manuals, including service manuals for your core instrument fleet

Work closely with Ektimo suppliers and other teams and understand Ektimo’s capabilities and actively cross sell suitable services during client interactions

Experience and Knowledge

A tertiary qualification (bachelor's degree or higher) within instrumentation or electrical fields

Relevant work experience of 5+ years and strong knowledge of instrumentation, electronics and electricals

Experience servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting, calibrating, and commissioning GAS and PARTICULATE analysers across industrial, environmental, and research applications





Proficient in the operation and calibration of Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS), Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations (AAQMS), handheld gas analysers, particulate monitors, meteorological stations, weather sensors, and associated instrumentation

Experienced in fault finding, preventative maintenance, quality assurance procedures, performance verification, data validation, and compliance monitoring, as well as supporting power systems including solar, battery, mains, UPS, and telemetry infrastructure to ensure reliable long-term operation of monitoring networks

Experience with a wide range of scientific, industrial, and environmental monitoring communication protocols, including MODBUS RTU/TCP, RS-232, RS-485, Ethernet/IP, TCP/IP, SDI-12, OPC, MQTT, and proprietary instrument interfaces

Experienced in integrating analysers, sensors, PLCs, RTUs, data loggers, SCADA systems, and telemetry platforms to ensure reliable data acquisition, communications, diagnostics, and remote monitoring across complex monitoring networks

Understanding of the relevant Australian regulatory workplace

Self-motivated and able to work both independently as well as collaborating within a team environment

In addition, the successful candidate must:

Have a willingness to travel (estimated at an average of five nights away per month)

Be able to climb 12 sets of stairs and/or climb a 30m cage ladder

Have a general level of fitness and the ability to lift loads of 25kgs

Have a valid Australian driver's license (Probationary license is acceptable)

Have Australian working rights
