## Role Overview As an A3 Auto Electrician, you’ll diagnose, repair, and install electrical and electronic systems across a range of vehicles and equipment. This role suits a practical tradesperson with 0–5 years’ experience who takes pride in accurate fault-finding, safe work practices, and delivering reliable outcomes for customers and project teams.
## Key Responsibilities Diagnose electrical faults using scan tools, multimeters, wiring diagrams, and systematic testing methods
Repair and replace wiring looms, connectors, sensors, switches, relays, fuses, and control modules
Install and service vehicle electrical accessories (e.g., lighting, beacons, reverse cameras, UHF radios, alarms, GPS/telematics, inverters, dual-battery systems)
Test and repair starting/charging systems including batteries, alternators, and starter motors
Carry out inspections, preventative maintenance, and electrical safety checks on vehicles and equipment
Read and interpret wiring schematics, manufacturer manuals, and job specifications
Complete job documentation, checklists, and basic service records as required
Maintain housekeeping standards and care for tools, diagnostic equipment, and company/customer assets
Work collaboratively with supervisors, mechanics, and other trades to meet deadlines and quality expectations ## Required Skills &
Experience 0–5 years’ experience in auto electrical work (workshop and/or field-based)
Ability to fault-find efficiently and confirm repairs through testing and verification
Confidence using diagnostic tools (scan tools), multimeters, and basic electrical test equipment
Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and follow manufacturer procedures
Strong understanding of safe work practices, including hazard identification and risk control
Good communication skills and a reliable, punctual work ethic
Physical capability to perform hands-on work in workshop and site environments ## Preferred (Nice to Have) Australian-recognised Auto Electrical trade qualification (or equivalent experience)
Experience with heavy vehicles, plant, or fleet maintenance environments
Air-conditioning (ARCtick) certification
Experience with CAN bus systems, telematics, and accessory fit-outs
Current driver’s licence
Ability to pass site medicals and/or drug & alcohol screening if required by clients ## Safety & Quality Expectations Follow all WHS requirements, SWMS/JSA, and site/workshop rules
Use PPE correctly and maintain a safety-first mindset
Produce work that meets specification, electrical standards, and functional testing requirements
Report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly
