Project Overview

Bechtel helps customers deliver projects of purpose that create a lasting positive legacy globally. These large, complex, and multi-disciplined projects create jobs, grow economies, and provide opportunities for local and regional communities.

The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea.Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure.





Bechtel is providing these EPC services across all disciplines and functions for this exciting capital project.

Job Summary

Bechtel Australia offers structured summer internships and graduate programs across major infrastructure, mining, and energy projects in locations like Brisbane, Perth, and Sydney.

This is a 4 month internship placement in the Eva Copper Field Engineering team on a 2/1 roster from Brisbane to Cloncurry, QLD from Nov-2026 to Feb-2027.

Major Responsibilities

- Provide technical direction to the craft for the installation of mechanical equipment

- Interpret and apply industry codes for the installation of rotating and mechanical equipment

- Interface with other functions including engineering and procurement

- Perform constructability reviews

- Plan and package the work for the craft

- Verify installed quantities

- Resolve technical issues with designer of record

- Manage equipment and materials, both permanent plant materials or material used for indirect construction use

- Perform inspections and tests to verify quality and manage quality records

- Interact with subcontractors

- Implement standard work processes and procedures

Education And Experience Requirements

- Currently enrolled in a four-year Bachelor of Science degree program in Mechanical Engineering at an accredited college or university

- Possess the eligibility to work and remain in Australia without sponsorship now or in the future

- Ability and willingness to relocate and/or travel to domestic and/or international project jobsites

Required Knowledge And Skills





- Completed relevant coursework

- Prior co-op or internship experience

- Excellent written and oral communication skills

- Practical work experience in a construction environment

- Demonstrated teamwork skills
