Role Overview

Trimetal Engineering seek an experienced Machinist with medium-to-heavy capabilities and a suitably qualified Fitter for a permanent, full time Leading Hand role. This supervisory position balances senior workshop management responsibilities with hands-on, high-precision machining on heavy-capacity industrial components.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Machining and Workshop Operations

- Program, set up, and operate CNC and Manual lathes, mills, and boring machinery.

- Demonstrate specialized proficiency with a heavy focus on CNC Horizontal Boring mills.

- Execute complex setups on medium-to-heavy components while maintaining strict close tolerances.

- Interpret advanced blueprints, technical engineering drawings, and manage physical tool changes.

2. Supervisory and Leadership Duties

- Supervise, train,



and mentor trade apprentices and junior machining staff on the production floor.

- Partner directly with the Department Manager to coordinate daily job scheduling and workshop workflow.

- Manage basic Quality Assurance compliance and enforce strict Workplace Health and Safety policies.

- Act as a technical point of contact to communicate timelines and requirements with suppliers and customers.

Candidate Requirements

- Trade Qualification: Certified Machinist, Fitter, or Turner.

- Machining Expertise: Strong background in both CNC and manual machining, with proven experience operating horizontal boring mills.

- Leadership Experience: Demonstrated history of workshop supervision, leadership, team coordination, or job scheduling.

- Industry Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of local manufacturing protocols and safety requirements.
