The Role The Assistant Director, Industry Intelligence Capability Systems leads the delivery, enhancement and governance of systems and capabilities that support Defence's Industry Intelligence function. The role is responsible for ensuring intelligence and information management systems are aligned to business needs and support the effective collection, analysis and dissemination of information to inform decision-making.

Working collaboratively with stakeholders across Defence and government, the successful candidate will lead capability improvement initiatives, manage system enhancements, and contribute to information management and data governance activities. The role requires solid leadership, stakeholder engagement and strategic thinking skills, together with an interest in information systems, data capabilities and emerging technologies.

The successful candidate will be able to translate business requirements into practical capability solutions and identify opportunities to leverage technology, analytics and innovation to improve organisational outcomes.

About our Team The Industrial Intelligence Capability (IIC) is a Defence-wide capability that provides industry capability and capacity insights, market intelligence, supply chain analysis and data-driven products to support Defence decision-making and enable speed to capability.

The IIC is responsible for developing a deeper understanding of Australia's defence industry landscape, including emerging risks, opportunities and sovereign industrial priorities. Through a range of analytical products and services, the capability supports Defence's strategic planning,



procurement and industry engagement activities. The IIC Systems team manages and supports the systems that underpin these functions.

The team is responsible for system administration, user support, data integrity, information management and continuous improvement activities, ensuring Defence personnel have reliable access to high-quality industry intelligence and analytical capabilities. The team works closely with business stakeholders to enhance capabilities and identify opportunities for innovation and technology-enabled outcomes.

Our Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate is a collaborative and forward-thinking leader with experience working in information, intelligence, data, or capability management environments. They will have strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, sound judgement, and the ability to work across business and technical domains to deliver practical outcomes.

The successful candidate will be comfortable leading capability improvement initiatives, managing competing priorities, and translating complex business requirements into effective system and process solutions. They will demonstrate an interest in information systems, data management, analytics, and emerging technologies, and be motivated to identify opportunities to improve the way Defence accesses, manages and uses industry intelligence.

Experience working in government, regulatory, intelligence or similarly complex environments will be highly regarded.

Security Clearance:

Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 1”.
