Who we are
Corporate and Research Division The Corporate and Research Division partners with business areas across the ACMA, to provide enterprise wide enabling services and strategic advice so that the ACMA can achieve its purpose. The Division facilitates this through the delivery of key corporate functions including financial management, property services, security, procurement advice, performance reporting, research and data, digital and technology services, human resources, communications, and governance services.
The eSafety Commissioner (eSafety) is Australia’s independent regulator for online safety. While functionally separate to the ACMA, the ACMA provides a range of corporate support services for eSafety under a Service Level Agreement.
Human Resources and Communications Branch The Human Resources and Communications Branch supports the ACMA to meet its purpose by delivering services that enhance the ACMA’s capacity to make the best use of its people, build a positive workplace culture, and to effectively communicate to stakeholders about its purpose, activities, and achievements. Services delivered by the Branch include recruitment, work health and safety, learning and development, payroll, human resource strategic and policy advice, internal and external communications and media and editorial services.
About the role
Are you an experienced HR leader looking to make a meaningful contribution in a small agency environment where your work has visible impact?
The ACMA is seeking high-performing and cutting-edge HR professionals to join our Human Resources team at the Executive Level 1. Through this process,
we are looking to establish a merit pool to fill current and future vacancies across a range of HR functions within ACMA over the next 18 months. These may include work, health and safety; strategic business partnering; payroll; workforce reporting; workplace relations; L&D; inclusion and performance.
We currently have immediate vacancies for:
Assistant Manager, Payroll, Systems and Reporting
Lead a small team responsible for delivering payroll services, HR systems administration and workforce reporting for the ACMA and eSafety. This role plays a critical part in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, maintaining workforce data integrity, supporting organisational reporting obligations and driving continuous improvement in HR systems and processes.
Key responsibilities include
- Leading payroll operations and HR systems administration.
- Managing workforce reporting and external reporting obligations, including APS and legislative reporting requirements.
- Providing expert advice on payroll, HR systems and workforce data matters.
- Overseeing employee lifecycle administration, including onboarding, offboarding and employee movements.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, reporting capability and service delivery.
Assistant Manager, Workplace Relations
Lead the review, development and implementation of employment related policies and procedures, the provision of clear, practical, and defensible workplace relations advice on complex queries related to the APS employment framework and conditions of employment.
The role leads a small team through matters relating to the ACMA Enterprise Agreement, integrity and conduct, public interest disclosures and the National Child Safety Principles.
Key responsibilities include
- Support the agency's enterprise bargaining program by providing workplace relations expertise, contributing to negotiation and consultation activities, engaging with employee representatives and stakeholders, and coordinating implementation of enterprise agreement outcomes.
- Provide specialist advice and support on integrity-related matters, including employment frameworks, APS values and code of conduct matters, conflicts of interest, and other workforce integrity issues, ensuring fair, consistent and procedurally sound outcomes.
- Managing complex workplace relations and employee case matters.
- Providing specialist advice on employment legislation, policy and industrial frameworks.
- Developing and reviewing workplace policies and procedures.
- Building capability across the organisation through guidance, coaching and practical workplace relations support.
Across all EL1 HR roles, you will lead projects and initiatives, build strong stakeholder relationships, drive business improvements and contribute to strategic workforce outcomes while leading and developing a high-performing team.
To be eligible for employment with ACMA, applicants must be Australian citizens.
The successful candidate will also be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance. More information on the security clearance vetting process is available on the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) website.
Suitable candidates will be placed in a merit pool from this selection process and may be used to fill similar ongoing roles in other areas of ACMA. Non-ongoing opportunities may be offered as a specified term.
